TO ASSIST IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF A DIVERSE AND SUSTAINABLE COMMUNITY IN HARMONY WITH THE ARTS.

COMMUNITY ARTS CENTER:IN 2023, WE OFFERED COMMUNITY CLASSES AND PERFORMING ART SHOWS TO THE REGIONAL COMMUNITY WITH EMPHASIS ON THE UNDERSERVED POPULATION. WE WERE ABLE TO PROVIDE A SUMMER ARTS CAMP EXPERIENCE TO MORE THAN 140 CHILDREN, ALSO GIVING THEM A HEALTHY BREAKFAST, LUNCH AND TWO SNACKS. WE OFFERED MORE THAN 50 CLASSES TO COMMUNITY MEMBERS IN VARIOUS VISUAL ART FORMS.


AFFORDABLE AND SUSTAINABLE HOUSING:WE ASSIST NEW COMMUNITY MEMBERS TO MOVE TO WESTERN INDEPENDENCE, MISSOURI, AND ASSIST EXISTING HOMEOWNERS WITH SECURING GRANTS FROM THE JACKSON COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY FOR HOME REPAIR ASSISTANCE. WE HAVE ESTABLISHED RELATIONSHIPS WITH OVER 10 LENDING INSTITUTIONS TO CREATE SPECIAL "HIGH RISK" MORTGAGE PROGRAMS THAT ARE CRA LOANS FOR OUR OPPORTUNITY ZONE COMMUNITY.


DEVELOPMENT:IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE CITY OF INDEPENDENCE, MISSOURI, WE DRAFTED THE ENGLEWOOD ARTS OVERLAY DISTRICT (EAOD) PROPOSAL. EAOD IS AN OVERLAY DISTRICT THAT IS INTENDED TO PROMOTE ROBUST AND SUSTAINABLE MIXED-INCOME NEIGHBORHOODS WITHIN THE EAOD BOUNDARIES. THE DISTRICT IS INTENDED TO SUSTAIN GREAT NEIGHBORHOODS THAT ARE SAFE, WALKABLE AND INCLUDE A MIXTURE OF DENSITIES AND DESIGNS ENCOURAGING INTERACTION AND PRIDE. ART IS INTEGRATED INTO THE OVERLAY INFRASTRUCTURE TO ENHANCE NEIGHBORHOODS, ENCOURAGE ECONOMIC REVITALIZATION, AND NURTURE ARTISTIC CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE CITY AND REGION.(CONTINUED ON SCHEDULE O)THE OVERLAY IS TO HELP ESTABLISH A MIXED-INCOME AREA WITH ART-RELATED BUSINESSES AS WELL AS OTHER LOW-INTENSITY NEIGHBORHOOD-SUPPORTING BUSINESSES, LIVE/WORK UNITS AND TRADITIONAL RESIDENCES INTEGRATED IN A MANNER THAT MAINTAINS THE RESIDENTIAL CHARACTER OF THE AREA. THE ZONING WILL ALLOW FOR NEW HOMES TO BE BUILT UNDER 1,000 SQUARE FEET, AUXILIARY DWELLING UNITS, AND A LIVE WORK ENVIRONMENT.
