JOINT PROJECT OF UNIVERSITY OF LEICESTER AND HISTORIC ENGLAND NON-PROFITS. BOARD MEMBERS WORKED WITH AUTISTIC CHILDREN AND VOLUNTEERS TO EXCAVATE PROCESS FINDS AND SKELETONS DATING FROM IRON AGE THROUGH ROMAN TIMES. VISITORS INCLUDING SCHOOL CHILDREN SAW TECHNIQUES ASKED QUESTIONS ETC. BOTH WEEKENDS OF THE DIG FEATURED HERITAGE WEEKENDS FOR THE COMMUNITY IN WHICH BOARD MEMBERS VOLUNTEERED IN ACTIVE EXCAVATION INCLUDING WITH FAMILIES IN NON-SENSITIVE AREAS. THE SECOND COMMUNITY WEEKEND CELEBRATED A SISTER SITE STANWICK LAKES WHERE BOARD MEMBERS ASSISTED YOUNG CHILDREN AT A "DIG PIT" TO LEARN ARCHEOLOGICAL TECHNIQUES BUILD TRADITIONAL WICKER FENCING WEAVING ETC.
