THE BREMERTON HISTORIC SHIPS ASSOCIATION'S PRIMARY PURPOSE IS TO ACHIEVE HERITAGE AWARENESS, EDUCATIONAL ENHANCEMENT, MEMORIAL RECOGNITION, REVITALIZATION & EOONOMIC DEVELOPMENT, AND NAVAL & MARITIME SERVICES RECOGNITION AND APPRECIATION. THE ORGANAZITION PRESERVES THE HISTORIC VESSEL, USS TURNER JOY, AND OFFERS TOURS TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC. DISPLAYS OF HISTORICAL ARTIFACTS ARE COLLECTED AND PRESERVED FOR THE PUBLIC'S BENEFIT. THE ORGANIZATION ALSO CONDUCTS EDUCATIONAL EVENTS SUCH AS PUBLIC SPEAKING FORUMS, HOSTS VETERAN GROUPS TO SHARE THEIR STORIES AND EXPERIENCES WITH THE PUBLIC, OPERATES A GIFT SHOP WITH RELATED MARITIME AND COMMORATIVE ITEMS, AND ORGANIZES VARIOUS OUTREACH PROGRAMS FOR THE GENERAL PUBLIC, INCLUDING STEM TYPES OF PROGRAMS FOR SCHOOL-AGED CHILDREN.
