ZORA?S HOUSE IS THE ONLY COWORKING SPACE AND LEADERSHIP INCUBATOR IN THE STATE OF OHIO CREATED BY AND FOR WOMEN OF COLOR (WOC). OUR MISSION IS TO CREATE A SAFE SPACE FOR WOC TO ESTABLISH MEANINGFUL, SUPPORTIVE RELATIONSHIPS WITH OTHER WOMEN IN THEIR COMMUNITY; DEVELOP A DEEPER PRACTICE OF SELF-CARE, RESILIENCY, AND EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE; AND SUCCESSFULLY INCUBATE THEIR CREATIVITY, SCHOLARSHIP, ENTREPRENEURSHIP, ACTIVISM, SERVICE, AND LEADERSHIP. SINCE BEING FOUNDED IN 2018, ZORA?S HOUSE HAS HELPED OVER 3,000 WOMEN OF COLOR: INCUBATE THEIR BUSINESSES, SCHOLARSHIP, CREATIVITY, AND ACTIVISM; ACTIVATE THEIR LEADERSHIP IN THEIR FAMILIES, COMMUNITIES AND WORKPLACES; BUILD DEEPER SUPPORT NETWORKS AND CONNECT WITH MENTAL HEALTH RESOURCES; NAVIGATE JOB LOSSES AND OTHER COVID-19 RELATED TRANSITIONS; AND GAIN FINANCIAL EMPOWERMENT AND CONFIDENCE.

IN 2021 ZORA?S HOUSE INCUBATED OVER 30 WOC OWNED BUSINESSES, DIRECTLY ADDRESSING THE NEEDS OF MANY WOMEN WHO STARTED BUSINESSES AS A RESULT OF INCOME LOSS OR INSTABILITY DUE TO COVID. ADDITIONALLY, WE TRANSFORMED 55% OF OUR $281,000 OPERATING BUDGET INTO $154,000 OF DIRECT ECONOMIC IMPACT IN NEW JOBS, PROMOTIONS, CONTRACTS AND FUNDING FOR OUR MEMBERS; AND OUR WOMEN OF COLOR OWNED MARKETS SUPPORTED OVER FORTY WOC ARTISANS AND ENTREPRENEURS, GENERATING $20,000 IN 2021 AND OVER $100,000 SINCE INCEPTION.
ZORA?S HOUSE BUILDS STRONGER SUPPORT NETWORKS, FOSTERS GREATER EMOTIONAL RESILIENCY, AND OFFERS INNOVATIVE PROGRAMS AND RESOURCES TO CONNECT WOMEN OF COLOR TO MEANINGFUL CAREER AND LEADERSHIP PATHWAYS. THROUGH PROGRAMS LIKE OUR AMBASSADORSHIP LEADERSHIP PROGRAM, SUNDAY DINNER SERIES, AND WOC WEALTH BUILDERS PROGRAM, THESE ZORA?S HOUSE PLAYS AN IMPORTANT ROLE IN CONNECTING WOC TO THE OPPORTUNITIES, MENTORSHIP, TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE, AND RESOURCES THEY NEED TO THRIVE NOW AND IN THE FUTURE.
ZORA?S HOUSE ? THE FIRST AND ONLY COMMUNITY SPACE AND LEADERSHIP INCUBATOR IN OHIO CREATED BY AND FOR WOMEN OF COLOR AND NON-BINARY PEOPLE OF COLOR ? WORKS TO DISMANTLE BARRIERS OF SYSTEMIC RACISM AND SEXISM, AND TO ENSURE THE FULL PARTICIPATION OF WOC IN THE CIVIC, ECONOMIC, AND CULTURAL LIFE OF FRANKLIN COUNTY. ADDITIONALLY, WE SERVE AS AN INCLUSIVE LEARNING SPACE FOR THE LARGER COMMUNITY ON ISSUES OF RACE, POLITICS, ECONOMICS, ARTS, AND CULTURE, AS THEY RELATE TO THE IDENTITIES AND EXPERIENCES OF WOMEN OF COLOR. IN 2020 AND 2021 OUR VIRTUAL BLACK FEMINIST NIGHT SCHOOL REACHED OVER 2000 WOC AND ALLIES AND OUR WOC COMMUNITY LIBRARY IS AN INTERACTIVE MOBILE LIBRARY THAT FEATURES A COLLECTION OF BOOKS WRITTEN BY WOMEN OF COLOR AUTHORS, ACADEMICS, ACTIVISTS, AND ARTISTS.
