THE CORPORATION WILL PARTNER WITH SCHOOLS AND OTHER TRAINING CENTERS AND RECRUIT INDUSTRY PARTNERS TO ENHANCE THE LEARNING IN THESE TRADE CLASSES. FOR EXAMPLE, THE CORPORATION WILL CONTRACT WITH THE CONSTRUCTION AND MAINTENANCE EDUCATION FOUNDATION ("CMEF"), AN ORGANIZATION DESCRIBED IN SECTION 501(C)(3) OF THE CODE, TO TEACH CLASSES ON VARIOUS CONSTRUCTION TRADES. CMEF IS ACCREDITED BY NCCER AND ALL OF ITS COURSES ARE TAUGHT USING THE NATIONALLY STANDARDIZED NCCER CURRICULUM. THE CORPORATION ALSO WILL SUPPORT ITS STUDENTS IN PERSONAL FINANCE, CHARACTER/SOFT SKILLS, AND PROVIDE FOLLOW-UP SUPPORT TO ENSURE STUDENTS ARE BOTH GETTING AND KEEPING JOBS. SUBSTANTIALLY ALL OF THE CORPORATION'S REVENUES WILL BE DERIVED FROM PER PUPIL REIMBURSEMENTS FROM ITS SCHOOL PARTNERS, WITH PRIVATE FUND-RAISING AND GOVERNMENT GRANT-MAKING EFFORTS TO SUPPLEMENT THOSE REVENUES. THE CORPORATION WILL ACQUIRE THROUGH A SIGNIFICANTLY BELOW MARKET, LONG-TERM LEASE A BUILDING SITE THAT WILL BE RENOVATED AND USED AS THE CORPORATION'S EDUCATION, TRAINING AND COUNSELLING FACILITY. THROUGH ITS CAREER PREPARATORY APPROACH, THE CORPORATION EXPECTS TO HAVE A SIGNIFICANT POSITIVE EFFECT ON STUDENTS, THEIR FAMILIES, AND THEIR COMMUNITIES.


PRESCHOOL PROGRAM: WORKTEXAS PROVIDED HIGH-QUALITY PRE-KINDERGARTEN EDUCATION TO INFANTS THROUGH FOUR-YEAR-OLDS, INCLUDING CHILDREN OF PARENTS ENROLLED IN WORKTEXAS TRAINING PROGRAMS. THESE PRESCHOOL PROGRAMS ARE OPERATED BY COMMUNITY PRESCHOOLS, WITH ONE CENTER LOCATED ON THE SAME CAMPUS AS THE WORKTEXAS TRAINING CENTERS, AND THE OTHER CENTER LOCATED IN WEST HOUSTON.


TRAINING PROGRAM: WORKTEXAS PREPARED STUDENTS WITH THE SKILLS AND VIRTUES THEY NEED TO ENTER THE WORKFORCE READY TO CONTRIBUTE IMMEDIATELY TO EMPLOYERS' BUSINESSES, AS WELL AS TO ADVANCE IN THAT FIELD OR ANOTHER FIELD OF THEIR CHOICE. WORKTEXAS FACILITATED THE PARTNERSHIPS BETWEEN EDUCATION AND INDUSTRY ORGANIZATIONS BY PROVIDING WORKFORCE-READY STUDENTS WITH OPPORTUNITIES TO OBTAIN A PAID INTERNSHIP, ON-THE-JOB TRAINING, REGISTERED APPRENTICESHIPS, OR DIRECT PLACEMENT WITH INDUSTRY PARTNERS, AND PROVIDED THEM WITH THE SUPPORT TO ADVANCE IN THEIR CAREERS. WORKTEXAS CURRENTLY PROVIDES SERVICES TO A PUBLIC VOCATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL (PREMIER HIGH SCHOOL) AND TO AN ADULT TRADE SCHOOL. TRAINING IS OFFERED IN THE AREAS OF CARPENTRY, ELECTRICAL, WELDING, AUTOMOTIVE TECHNOLOGY, EQUIPMENT OPERATIONS, EDUCATION/CHILDCARE, HVAC AND PLUMBING.
