THE TREES ACROSS COLORADO PROGRAM DISTRIBUTED 2,334 TREES TO 30 GROUPS & COMMUNITIES IN APRIL. THE TREE LIST INCLUDED 43 DIFFERENT SPECIES OF SHADE TREES.THE CTC AWARDED 34 COMMUNITY GRANTS WITH 30 PROJECTS COMPLETED TOTALING $101,310 IN GRANT FUNDS. THIS INCLUDED SIX XCEL FOUNDATION GRANTS AND THIRTEEN EMERALD ASH BORER MANAGEMENT GRANTS.THE CHAMPION TREE PROGRAM MAINTAINED AND UPDATED A DATABASE OF THE LARGEST TREES BY SPECIES, IN THE STATE WITH 794 TREES LISTED BY YEAR END. FIDAA HAMED, A FIFTH GRADER FROM CHARLES HAY WORLD SCHOOL IN ENGLEWOOD WAS SELECTED AS THE WINNER OF THE 2023 COLORADO ARBOR DAY POSTER CONTEST. 32 SCHOOLS FROM ACROSS THE STATE SUBMITTED ENTRIES. OUR COMMUNITY EDUCATION EVENTS INCLUDED SIX FRONT RANGE URBAN FORESTRY COUNCIL MEETINGS.
