LAND AND WATER CONSERVATION. ASPEN VALLEY LAND TRUST HAS CONSERVED OVER 45,000 ACRES SINCE 1967 INCLUDING KEY WILDLIFE HABITAT, FAMILY RANCHES, LOCAL FARMS, SCENIC OPEN LANDS, AND OVER 100 MILES OF LAND ALONG RIVERS AND STREAMS IN THE ROARING FORK AND COLORADO RIVER VALLEYS. AVLT ALSO OWNS OR PROTECTS 10 PUBLIC PARKS, 33 MILES OF PUBLIC TRAILS, AND THREE PROPERTIES USED FOR OUTDOOR EDUCATION THAT INSPIRES AND PROVIDES EQUITABLE OPPORTUNITIES TO YOUTH FROM ALL BACKGROUNDS ACROSS WESTERN COLORADO. IN 2021, AVLT CONSERVED 240 ACRES ON THE WHITE OWL RANCH AND RAISED OVER $6.5 MILLION TO PURCHASE THE COFFMAN RANCH NEAR CARBONDALE, CO WHICH WILL BECOME A PUBLICLY ACCESSIBLE CONSERVANCY THAT PROTECTS A HISTORIC WORKING RANCH, EXTENSIVE RIPARIAN AND WETLAND HABITAT FOR WILDLIFE, AND OUTDOOR EDUCATIONAL AND RECREATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE PUBLIC. AVLT ALSO COMPLETED A COMPREHENSIVE STRATEGIC CONSERVATION PLAN THAT WILL GUIDE OUR CONSERVATION PRIORITIES OVER THE NEXT DECADE AND SETS THE GOAL OF DOUBLING OUR CONSERVED ACREAGE BY 2032. COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT. AVLT CONTINUED WORK WITH LOCAL GOVERNMENTS TO COMPLETE RESTORATION AND INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECTS ON CONSERVED PROPERTIES AND PUBLIC PARKS IN FIVE TOWNS IN THE ROARING FORK AND COLORADO RIVER VALLEYS (INCLUDING SILT, GLENWOOD SPRINGS, CARBONDALE, AND MARBLE) THAT WILL IMPROVE OR RESTORE HABITAT, ADD LOW-IMPACT OUTDOOR CLASSROOMS AND INFRASTRUCTURE FOR OUTDOOR EDUCATION, OR STEWARD TRAILS AND OPEN SPACES IMPORTANT TO LOCAL COMMUNITIES, WITH AN EMPHASIS ON ADVANCING EQUITY IN THE OUTDOORS.
