WE ARE REACHING OUT WHEN IT MATTERS MOST, WHEN A SUPPORTIVE GESTURE CAN MAKE ALL THE DIFFERENCE. WE BELIEVE THAT THE POWER OF MUSIC NOT ONLY HAS THE ABILITY TO BUILD CONFIDENCE AND CAMARADERIE, WE BELIEVE THAT IT POSITIVELY IMPACTS SOCIAL CHANGE FOR CHILDREN, FAMILIES AND COMMUNITIES. WE ARE COMMITTED TO CREATING AN ATMOSPHERE OF SUPPORT AND FREEDOM FOR KIDS TO DREAM BIG! THE PERFORMING ARTS SCHOLARSHIP IS A $10,000 MERIT-BASED SCHOLARSHIP AWARDED TO HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS PURSUING HIGHER EDUCATION IN A PERFORMING ARTS PROGRAM. STUDENTS ARE RECOGNIZED FOR THEIR ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENTS AND ARTISTIC ABILITY. SINCE ITS INCEPTION, THE GREAT KHALID FOUNDATION HAS AWARDED MORE THAN $50,000 IN ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIPS. THE APPLICATION IS OPEN TO STUDENTS ACROSS THE UNITED STATES. APPLICANTS MUST BE HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS, HOLD A GPA OF 3.5 OR HIGHER, SUBMIT AN ACCEPTANCE LETTER INTO A PERFORMING ARTS COLLEGIATE LEVEL PROGRAM, SUBMIT A WRITTEN ESSAY, AND SUBMIT A VIDEO PERFORMANCE. SCHOLARSHIP FUNDS ARE PAID DIRECTLY TO THE STUDENT'S SCHOOL AND CAN BE APPLIED TO TUITION EXPENSES, ROOM AND BOARD, OR TEXTBOOK PURCHASES.
HONORING PARENTS: LET'S CELEBRATE MOM MOTHER'S DAY CONTEST AND DAD'S DAY OUT FATHER'S DAY CONTEST IS AN ESSAY CONTEST PRESENTED IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE EL PASO PUBLIC LIBRARY SYSTEM. PROGRAM PARTICIPANTS ARE ASKED TO SUBMIT MEANINGFUL STORIES IN ESSAY FORM ABOUT THEIR PARENTAL FIGURE. THE PROGRAM IS OPEN TO STUDENTS AGES FIVE TO 18. THE CONTEST WINNERS EARN A PRIZE PACKAGE TO GIVE TO THEIR PARENT ON MOTHER'S DAY OR FATHER'S DAY RESPECTIVELY.
BACK TO SCHOOL PROGRAM IS AN EL PASO AREA, NEED-BASED INITIATIVE PRESENTING MIDDLE SCHOOL CHILDREN WITH A NEW BACKPACK FILLED WITH THE SCHOOL SUPPLIES THEY NEED TO START THE SCHOOL YEAR WITH EXCITEMENT AND CONFIDENCE. OUR GOAL IS TO PROVIDE CHILDREN WITH THE TOOLS THEY NEED TO FOCUS ON THEIR STUDIES AND BE SUCCESSFUL IN THE CLASSROOM. SINCE ITS INCEPTION, THE GREAT KHALID FOUNDATION HAS SUPPLIED 1,700 SIXTH GRADERS WITH BACKPACKS AND CRITICAL SCHOOL SUPPLIES. MIDDLE SCHOOL PERSONNEL ARE INVITED TO APPLY ON BEHALF OF THEIR SCHOOLS EVERY SPRING.
MUSIC IN SCHOOLS REVITALIZES STRUGGLING MUSIC EDUCATION PROGRAMS BY PROVIDING NEW MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS AND ACCESSORY SUPPLIES. THE GREAT KHALID FOUNDATION IS COMMITTED TO INCREASING ACCESS TO MUSIC EDUCATION AND REDUCING BARRIERS TO MUSIC EDUCATION. OUR GOAL IS TO ENSURE THAT NO CHILD IS TURNED AWAY FROM MUSIC EDUCATION DUE TO FINANCIAL HARDSHIP OR A SHORTAGE OF INSTRUMENTS. THE APPLICATION IS OPEN TO SCHOOLS ACROSS THE UNITED STATES. MUSIC TEACHERS, PROGRAM DIRECTORS, AND PRINCIPALS ARE ENCOURAGED TO APPLY ON BEHALF OF THEIR SCHOOL AND THEIR STUDENTS.THE GREAT THANKSGIVING GIVEAWAY IS AN EL PASO AREA PROGRAM CREATED IN RESPONSE TO INCREASED LOCAL FOOD INSECURITY AS A RESULT OF THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC. THE PROGRAM SERVES FAMILIES WITH HOLIDAY MEAL KITS THAT INCLUDE ALL OF THE ITEMS NEEDED FOR A COMPLETE THANKSGIVING MEAL. THE GREAT KHALID FOUNDATION IS COMMITTED TO PRESERVING THE HOLIDAY SEASON FOR FAMILIES IN NEED BY ALLEVIATING THE FINANCIAL BURDEN OF PURCHASING A THANKSGIVING MEAL. MEAL BOXES ARE DISTRIBUTED ON A FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED BASISCHRISTMAS WITH KHALID IS AN EL PASO AREA NEED-BASED PROGRAM STRIVING TO KEEP THE SPIRIT OF CHRISTMAS ALIVE FOR YOUNG CHILDREN WHO MIGHT NOT OTHERWISE HAVE A GIFT TO OPEN ON CHRISTMAS DAY.
