MOVE(NYC)'S CORE PROGRAM, THE YOUNG PROFESSIONALS PROGRAM, IS A TUITION-FREE AND YEAR-ROUND MENTORSHIP AND COLLEGE/CONSERVATORY PREP PROGRAM FOR NYC TEENAGERS, AGES 13-18, WHO DEMONSTRATE EXCEPTIONAL POTENTIAL FOR A CAREER IN DANCE. THE SELECTION PROCESS IS CAREFULLY AND INTENTIONALLY CALIBRATED TO PRIORITIZE ACCESS TO THE POPULATIONS WHO NEED IT MOST WITHOUT BECOMING AN INCUBATOR FOR A SINGULAR DEMOGRAPHIC. CURRENTLY, THE YOUNG PROFESSIONALS PROGRAM IS COMPRISED OF 85% DANCERS OF COLOR WITH 80% DEMONSTRATING FINANCIAL NEED THAT IS HEIGHTENED BY THE PURSUIT OF A PROFESSIONAL DANCE CAREER. WITH 3 GRADUATING CLASSES, MOVE(NYC) IS PROUD TO SHARE THAT 100% OF GRADUATES HAVE MATRICULATED TO SOME OF THE TOP COLLEGES, CONSERVATORIES, AND PROFESSIONAL TRAINING PROGRAMS IN THE COUNTRY. IN MANY CASES, MOVE(NYC) ALUMNI MAKE UP A SIGNIFICANT DEMOGRAPHIC OF THE DANCERS OF COLOR IN THESE INSTITUTIONS. EXCITEDLY, THIS FALL ALONE 3 ALUMNI HAVE JOINED HOFESH SHECHTER COMPANY IN LONDON, THE MARTHA GRAHAM DANCE COMPANY, AND THE LIMON DANCE COMPANY, RESPECTIVELY.
