Describe the Organization's Mission:
Part 3 - Line 1
GUARDIAN REVIVAL IS A NEW YORK STATE 501(C)(3) NOT-FOR-PROFIT CHARTERED TO SUPPORT FIRST RESPONDERS, THE ARMED FORCES, AND OUR VETERAN COMMUNITIES. WE RAISE MONEY TO FUND TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES, EQUIPMENT, AND OTHER RESOURCES FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT, MILITARY SERVICE MEMBERS, EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES (EMS), FIREFIGHTERS, AND RESCUE SERVICES. DONATIONS ALSO FUND OUR VETERAN PROGRAMS WHICH PROVIDE SUPPORT AND RESOURCES TO BOTH MILITARY AND FIRST RESPONDER VETERANS.
Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
GUARDIAN RISE: THROUGH ITS GUARDIAN RISE PROGRAM, THE ORGANIZATION RAISES MONEY TO FUND TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES, EQUIPMENT PURCHASES, AND OTHER RESOURCES FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT, MILITARY SERVICE MEMBERS, EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES (EMS), FIREFIGHTERS, AND RESCUE SERVICES. RISE HAS TRAINED MORE THAN 450 FIRST RESPONDERS IN PUTNAM, DUTCHESS, AND WESTCHESTER COUNTIES SINCE ITS INCEPTION AND CONTRIBUTED MORE THAN 85,000 IN VITAL EQUIPMENT TO DEPARTMENTS IN NEED.
BOOTS AND PAWS: GUARDIAN REVIVAL'S 'BOOTS & PAWS' PROGRAM PROVIDES OUR GUARDIANS IN NEED WITH SERVICE AND COMPANION DOGS. RESEARCHERS HAVE ACCUMULATED A GROWING BODY OF EVIDENCE SUPPORTING THE POWERFUL THERAPEUTIC EFFECTS OF ANIMAL OWNERSHIP. OWNERSHIP OF A DOG BRINGS PURPOSE AND PASSION INTO AN OWNER'S LIFE AND DEMANDS ELEVATED RESPONSIBILITIES AND MUTUALLY BENEFICIAL COMPANIONSHIP. DOGS ALSO HAVE THE ABILITY TO WORK AND PERFORM TASKS IN ORDER TO ASSIST INDIVIDUALS IN NEED, INCLUDING RETRIEVING MEDICINE, OPENING/CLOSING DOORS, AND RESPONDING TO EMOTIONAL CUES/REACTIONS FROM THEIR OWNER, TO NAME A FEW. BOOTS & PAWS OFFERS BOTH COMPANION AND SERVICE DOGS TO MEET THE NEEDS OF A DIVERSE POPULATION OF GUARDIANS. OUR COMPANION DOG OPTION IS FOR GUARDIANS LOOKING FOR THE BENEFITS OF ANIMAL OWNERSHIP AND COMPANIONSHIP. COMPANION DOGS ARE AWARDED ALONG WITH A CARE PACKAGE, WHICH INCLUDES PROFESSIONAL TRAINING SESSIONS, VETERINARY COVERAGE, PET INSURANCE, FOOD, TOYS, LEASHES, AND OTHER ESSENTIAL CARE EQUIPMENT FOR UP TO A YEAR. SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH SUPPORTS THE THERAPEUTIC BENEFITS OF DOG OWNERSHIP. THE SIMPLE ACT OF PETTING A DOG LOWERS YOUR HEART RATE AND CORTISOL LEVELS. COMPANION DOGS CAN REDUCE STRESS, ANXIETY, DEPRESSION, AND FEELINGS OF LONELINESS. THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF CARING FOR A DOG CAN BENEFIT BOTH PHYSICAL AND MENTAL HEALTH TREMENDOUSLY BY INCREASING PHYSICAL ACTIVITY AND SOCIAL INTERACTION. THE EMOTIONAL SUPPORT THAT A COMPANION DOG OFFERS HELPS OUR GUARDIANS OVERCOME CHALLENGING SITUATIONS THAT MIGHT OTHERWISE COMPROMISE THEIR QUALITY OF LIFE. WE BREED, RAISE, AND PROFESSIONALLY TRAIN SERVICE DOGS FOR GUARDIANS IN NEED. A SERVICE ANIMAL REFERS TO ANY DOG THAT IS INDIVIDUALLY TRAINED TO DO WORK OR PERFORM AT LEAST THREE TASKS FOR THE BENEFIT OF AN INDIVIDUAL WITH A DISABILITY, INCLUDING A PHYSICAL, SENSORY, PSYCHIATRIC, OR OTHER MENTAL DISABILITY. WE OFFER TWO UNIQUE SERVICE DOG OPTIONS FOR GUARDIANS. SOME (QUALIFIED) GUARDIANS CAN BE PLACED WITH A PUPPY AT THREE MONTHS OLD; THIS WILL ALLOW THEM TO PARTICIPATE IN THE TRAINING OF THEIR DOG, UNDER THE DIRECTION OF OUR PROFESSIONAL CANINE TRAINERS. WE ALSO OFFER FULLY TRAINED SERVICE DOGS THAT CAN BE PLACED WITH THE GUARDIAN DURING A 14-DAY TRAINING AND INTEGRATION PERIOD. EACH DOG IS INDIVIDUALLY TRAINED TO MEET THE NEEDS AND SPECIFIC CIRCUMSTANCES OF ITS OWNER. ALL DOGS GRADUATE AT 18 MONTHS OF AGE AFTER HAVING MET OR EXCEEDED THE ASSISTANCE DOGS INTERNATIONAL (ADI) TRAINING STANDARDS, AS WELL AS SUCCESSFULLY PASSING THE PUBLIC ACCESS TEST (PAT).
ANOTHER SUMMIT: ANOTHER SUMMIT IS A THERAPEUTIC OUTDOOR ADVENTURE PROGRAM THAT PROVIDES VETERANS, FIRST RESPONDERS, FEDERAL AGENTS, AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS WITH THE FOUNDATION FOR A HEALTHY, PURPOSEFUL LIFE THROUGH STRUCTURED OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES SUCH AS HIKING, BACKPACKING, AND PADDLING ADVENTURES IN THE HUDSON VALLEY REGION OF NEW YORK. THE IDEA THAT NATURE HAS THERAPEUTIC BENEFITS IS HARDLY NEW. RESEARCHERS OVER THE PAST SEVERAL DECADES HAVE RIGOROUSLY INVESTIGATED THE IMPACT THAT CONTACT WITH NATURE HAS ON HUMAN HEALTH AND WELL-BEING, AND THE RESULTS ARE NO SURPRISE. THIS EFFORT HAS RESULTED IN A SUBSTANTIAL GROWTH IN EMPIRICAL DATA WITH NUMEROUS STUDIES DOCUMENTING THE DIVERSITY OF BENEFITS RELATED TO EXPOSURE TO NATURAL ENVIRONMENTS, INCLUDING SIGNIFICANT IMPROVEMENTS ON PSYCHOLOGICAL HEALTH, MOOD, ATTENTIONAL FUNCTIONING, COPING ABILITIES, AND OVERALL WELL- BEING.
