DIRECT REFORESTATION INCLUDING SUPPORT OF SCIENTIFIC STUDIES DESIGNED & EXECUTED BY UNIV OF MN & VA TECH. 13835 TREES WERE PLANTED AND 24680 ADDITIONAL TREES WERE SUPPORTED THROUGHOUT THEIR 1ST 3 YEARS OF GROWTH BY OUR EXTENDED CARE PROGRAM
ECO SCHOOL AND GREENHOUSE FACILITY SUPPORT CONTINUED. THE SCHOOL EDUCATES MALAGASCY COMMUNITIES ON PLANTING AND CARING FOR TREES IN A MANNER THAT WILL ALLOW THEM TO SURVIVE HURRICANES & WILDFIRES. THIS IS ALSO THE CENTER OF SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH WHICH WILL BE SHARED WITH TREE PLANTING ORGANIZATIONS AROUND THE WORLD AND EDUCATES RESIDENTS IN SCIENTIFIC PROCESSES AND TOOLS. ULTIMATE GOAL IS TO BUILD CAPACITY FOR SUSTAINABLE FOREST MANAGEMENT THRU ECO EDUCATION AND SCIENTIFIC STUDY.
LEADERSHIP TRAINING, COMMUNITY BUILDING, LOCAL DECISION MAKING BY MALAGASCY TEAM CAPTAINS, FIELD STATION AND EDUCATIONAL DEVELOPMENT. THE LONG TERM GOAL IS THAT LOCALS WILL BE ABLE TO COMPETENTLY MANAGE FOREST RESTORATION AND PROTECTION ON THEIR OWN.
