MAESTRA MUSIC, INC. IS A 501(C)(3) ORGANIZATION BASED IN NEW YORK THAT PROVIDES (CON SCH O) SUPPORT, VISIBILITY, AND COMMUNITY TO THE WOMEN AND NONBINARY PEOPLE WHO MAKE THE MUSIC IN THE MUSICAL THEATER INDUSTRY. MAESTRA ENVISIONS A WORLD IN WHICH WOMEN AND NONBINARY PEOPLE HAVE EQUITABLE ACCESS, VISIBILITY, AND CREATIVE IMPACT IN THE MUSICAL THEATER INDUSTRY. IN THIS FUTURE, AT LEAST HALF OF ALL MUSIC-RELATED THEATER JOBS AND LEADERSHIP ROLES ARE FILLED BY QUALIFIED WOMEN AND NONBINARY MUSICIANS, DECIDEDLY INCLUSIVE OF PEOPLE OF COLOR. THESE MUSICIANS ARE HISTORICALLY AND CONSISTENTLY UNDER-REPRESENTED IN MUSICAL THEATRE. BY DELIVERING ON OUR MISSION, WE WILL BE A CATALYST AND DRIVING FORCE TO HELP ACHIEVE GENDER EQUITY IN OUR BUSINESS.

DATABASE /WEBSITE:THE MAESTRA DIRECTORY IS A DATABASE THAT CONTAINS PROFILE PAGES FOR OVER 1,400 (400 ADDED DURING THE YEAR) WOMEN AND NONBINARY PEOPLE AROUND THE GLOBE WHO ARE SKILLED AND READY TO WORK IN THEATRICAL MUSIC DEPARTMENTS. THE DIRECTORY IS A FREE TOOL, AND ITS LISTINGS HAVE HELPED INDUSTRY MUSIC SUPERVISORS, CONTRACTORS, GENERAL MANAGERS, AND PRODUCERS FIND AND HIRE MORE MAESTRA'S FOR MUSIC JOBS. MAESTRA HAS ALSO PARTNERED WITH MUSE: MUSICIANS UNITED FOR SOCIAL EQUITY TO CREATE A PARTNER DIRECTORY THAT WILL INCREASE VISIBILITY AND PROVIDE MORE INDUSTRY OPPORTUNITIES FOR MUSICIANS OF COLOR. A JOBS BOARD WAS RECENTLY ADDED TO THE WEBSITE AND IS VISIBLE EXCLUSIVELY TO (CON SCH O) DIRECTORY MEMBERS.MAESTRA'S WEBSITE HAD APPROXIMATELY 83,000 VISITORS DURING THE YEAR.
AMPLIFY 21:THE ORGANIZATION PRODUCED AMPLIFY, ITS FIRST ANNUAL SPRING CONCERT. THE ONLINE EVENT TOOK PLACE IN A VIRTUAL VENUE AND WAS ATTENDED BY 1050 PEOPLE IN 26 COUNTRIES. THIS EVENT SHOWCASED SONGS, ARRANGEMENTS, AND MUSIC DIRECTION BY MEMBERS OF MAESTRA. THE ORGANIZATION LAUNCHED THE #GETTOWORK CAMPAIGN, A DATA-DRIVEN INITIATIVE POWERED IN COLLABORATION WITH NON-PROFIT COMMUNITY PARTNERS MUSE AND ASTEP. THIS AWARENESS CAMPAIGN BUILT A WEBSITE HUB THAT ASKED THE COMMUNITY TO GET INFORMED AND GET INVOLVED IN THE MUCH-NEEDED CHANGE REQUIRED AS THEATERS AND MUSIC VENUES REOPEN POST-PANDEMIC.
WORKSHOPS:THE ORGANIZATION CONTINUED ITS TECHNICAL WORKSHOP SERIES, WHICH HAS GROWN FROM A MUSICAL DIRECTORS' TRAINING INITIATIVE FOR WOMEN INTO A MONTHLY SERIES OF EDUCATIONAL CLASSES THOUGHT BY ITS MEMBERS AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. INSTRUCTORS INCLUDED FEMALES THAT WERE SHOWCASED AS EXPERTS IN THEIR FIELDS. THE APPROXIMATE ATTENDANCE FOR ALL OF THE TECHNICAL WORKSHOPS THROUGHOUT 2021 WAS 4,000
