MAESTRA MUSIC, INC. IS A 501(C)(3) ORGANIZATION BASED IN NEW YORK THAT PROVIDES SUPPORT, VISIBILITY, AND COMMUNITY TO THE WOMEN AND NONBINARY PEOPLE WHO MAKE THE MUSIC IN THE MUSICAL THEATER INDUSTRY. MAESTRA ENVISIONS A WORLD IN WHICH WOMEN AND NONBINARY PEOPLE HAVE EQUITABLE ACCESS, VISIBILITY, AND CREATVE IMPACT IN THE MUSICAL THEATER INDUSTRY. IN THIS FUTURE, AT LEAST HALF OF ALL MUSIC-RELATED THEATER JOBS AND LEADERSHIP ROLES ARE FILLED BY QUALIFIED WOMEN AND NONBINARY MUSICIANS, DECIDEDLY INCLUSIVE OF PEOPLE OF COLOR. THESE MUSICIANS ARE HISTORICALLY AND CONSISTENTLY UNDER-REPRESENTED IN MUSICAL THEATRE. DATABASE/WEBSITE:RISE THEATRE DIRECTORY IS A NATIONAL PERSONNEL DIRECTORY CREATED TO PROMOTE VISIBILITY OF INDIVIDUALS WHO WORK BACKSTAGE, BEHIND-THE-SCENES, AND IN SUPPORT OF THEATER MAKING. THE DIRECTORY IS A PUBLIC SERVICE TOOL, AVAILABLE TO ALL, CREATED WITH THE KNOWLEDGE THAT AMPLIFICATION IS PARTICULARLY POWERFUL FOR THOSE WHO ARE OFTEN OVERLOOKED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO PEOPLE OF COLOR, WOMEN, TRANS, NONBINARY, DEAF, AND DISABLED THEATRE PROFESSIONALS. RISE THEATRE DIRECTORY ALLOWS THESE PROFESSIONALS TO BE DISCOVERED AND IDENTIFIED FOR EMPLOYMENT AND OPPORTUNITIES BY PRODUCERS, GENERAL MANAGERS, THEATERS AND VARIOUS EMPLOYERS.
AMPLIFY 23:THE ANNUAL AMPLIFY CONCERT AND COMMUNITY EVENT, HELD THE LAST MONDAY IN MARCH TO ALIGN WITH WOMEN'SHISTORY MONTH, BRINGS TOGETHER MAESTRAS FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD FOR AN ELECTRIC EVENING OF UNIQUE MUSICAL PERFORMANCES. THE EVENT IS HELD ONLINE AND IN PERSON TO ACHIEVE MAXIMUM AWARENESS AND SUPPORT FOR THE TALENTED WOMEN AND NONBINARY MEMBERS OF THE MUSICAL THEATER COMMUNITY. THE EVENT WAS ATTENDED BY APPROXIMATELY 271 PEOPLE.
WORKSHOPS:THE ORGANIZATION CONTINUED ITS TECHNICAL WORKSHOP SERIES, WHICH HAS GROWN FROM A MUSICAL DIRECTORS' TRAINING INITIATIVE FOR WOMEN INTO A MONTHLY SERIES OF EDUCATION CLASSED THOUGHT BY ITS MEMBERS AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. INSTURCTORS INCLUDED FEMALES THAT WERE SHOWCASED AS EXPERTS IN THEIR FIELDS. THE APPROXIMATE ATTENDANCE FOR ALL OF THE TECHINCAL WORKSHOPS THROUGHOUT 2023 WAS 1,829.
