TCG GRANT PROGRAMSTHROUGH A SERIES OF PHILANTHROPIC PARTNERSHIPS, TCG DISTRIBUTES GRANTS TO THEATRES AND INDIVIDUALS EACH YEAR. BY MAKING FUNDS AVAILABLE TO ORGANIZATIONS, INDIVIDUAL ARTISTS, AND ADMINISTRATORS, TCG IS ABLE TO PROVIDE DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES FOR A GROWING BODY OF PROFESSIONALS AND HELP BUILD AND CONNECT A NEW GENERATION OF PRACTITIONERS FOR THE FIELD. PROGRAMS DURING FY21 INCLUDE THE FOX FOUNDATION RESIDENT ACTOR FELLOWSHIPS; THE WILLA KIM COSTUME DESIGN SCHOLARSHIP, THE ALAN SCHNEIDER DIRECTOR AWARD; THE RISING LEADERS OF COLOR PROGRAM; THE FREELANCERS RELIEF FUND: THEATRE DESIGNERS; GLOBAL CONNECTIONS; AND THRIVE! UPLIFTING THEATRES OF COLOR IS A MULTI-YEAR PROGRAM DESIGNED BY TCG AND FUNDED BY THE DORIS DUKE CHARITABLE FOUNDATION TO PROVIDE UNRESTRICTED FUNDS TO US-BASED THEATRES OF COLOR. WHILE NOT A GRANT PROGRAM, TCG'S EQUITY, DIVERSITY & INCLUSION (EDI) INSTITUTE IS A KEY PART OF TCG'S INITIATIVE TO TRANSFORM THE NATIONAL THEATRE FIELD INTO A MORE EQUITABLE, INCLUSIVE, AND DIVERSE COMMUNITY - THE EDI INSTITUTE INCLUDES RESOURCES FOR NETWORKING, CAPACITY BUILDING, AND MOVEMENT BUILDING AMONG PREDOMINANTLY WHITE THEATRES AND NETWORKS OF THEATRES OF COLOR. THE EDI INSTITUTE IS SUPPORTED BY THE ANDREW W. MELLON FOUNDATION AND THE HEARST FOUNDATIONS.OTHER GRANTMAKING INFO:TO DATE, TCG HAS AWARDED OVER $43 MILLION IN DIRECT SUPPORT, REACHING OVER 900 ORGANIZATIONS AND OVER 1,300 INDIVIDUALS. IN A SEPARATE EFFORT DURING FY21, TCG PROVIDED RELIEF TO FREELANCERS AND PARTNERED WITH THEFRONTOFFICE FOUNDATION, THE CHARITABLE ARM OF ENTERTAINMENT COMPANY THEFRONTOFFICE, TO CREATE THE "FREELANCERS RELIEF FUND: THEATRE DESIGNERS" EMERGENCY GRANT PROGRAM, WHICH PROVIDED OVER $46,000 IN RAPID RESPONSE GRANTS FOR SCENIC, LIGHTING, COSTUME, SOUND, AND PROJECTION DESIGNERS.

MEMBER SERVICESTCG CONDUCTS RESEARCH FOR AND ABOUT THE NOT-FOR-PROFIT THEATRE FIELD TO ASSESS THE CHANGING NEEDS AND CONDITIONS OF THE THEATRE COMMUNITY, CHRONICLE THE FIELD'S GROWTH, SUPPORT NATIONAL ADVOCACY EFFORTS, AND CREATE RESOURCES TO AID THEATRE PROFESSIONALS IN THEIR WORK. TCG ALSO PROVIDES FIELD-WIDE LEADERSHIP BY REPRESENTING THE FIELD IN WASHINGTON, DC BY ADVOCATING ON A RANGE OF ISSUES, INCLUDING NEA APPROPRIATIONS, COVID-RELIEF EFFORTS, ARTS EDUCATION FUNDING, TAX INCENTIVES FOR CHARITABLE GIVING, THE VISA PROCESS FOR INTERNATIONAL ARTISTS, FUNDING FOR CULTURAL EXCHANGE, AND PROTECTING PERFORMING ARTS TECHNOLOGY.TCG HELD TWO CONVENINGS DURING FY21 THAT BROUGHT TOGETHER THEATRE PROFESSIONALS FROM ACROSS THE U.S. VIRTUALLY TO SHARE THEIR KNOWLEDGE ON TRENDS AND CHALLENGES IN THE FIELD. THE NATIONAL CONFERENCE, HELD VIRTUALLY IN 2021, WAS INSPIRED BY OUR NEW MISSION AND FOCUSED ON THREE CONVERGING AREAS: PANDEMIC RECOVERY, CLIMATE ACTION AND SYSTEMIC ANTI-RACISM, WHILE CENTERING THE NEEDS AND EXPERIENCES OF BIPOC IN THE THEATRE FIELD. THE NATIONAL CONFERENCE IS THE LARGEST NATIONAL GATHERING OF THE NOT-FOR-PROFIT PROFESSIONAL THEATRE COMMUNITY. THE ANNUAL FALL FORUM ON GOVERNANCE, A TRADITIONAL PILLAR OF OUR MAIN PROGRAMMING, WENT VIRTUAL IN NOVEMBER 2020 FOR THE FIRST TIME AND FOCUSED ON REBUILDING THE SECTOR INFORMED BY THE WE SEE YOU WHITE AMERICAN THEATRE (WSYWAT) DEMANDS. TCG ALSO OFFERS THEATRE PROFESSIONALS AND LEADERSHIP TELECONFERENCES TO ALLOW GEOGRAPHICALLY DISPARATE MEMBERS TO CONNECT AND SHARE KNOWLEDGE AT MORE FREQUENT INTERVALS - WHICH PLAYS AN IMPORTANT ROLE IN COVID-19 RECOVERY EFFORTS.THE RISING LEADERS OF COLOR (RLC) PROGRAM IS A CORE TCG PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM FOR BIPOC, AND IS AN EXPANSION AND RE-ENVISIONING OF TCG'S YOUNG LEADERS OF COLOR PROGRAM (YLC), WHICH LAUNCHED IN 2008, AND TCG'S SPARK LEADERSHIP PROGRAM. THE PROGRAM'S STRUCTURE BRINGS NATIONAL RECOGNITION TO A COHORT OF EARLY-CAREER LEADERS, CREATES A LEARNING SPACE FOR AFFINITY AND ACCOUNTABILITY, AND EXPANDS THEIR NETWORK OF EMPOWERING RELATIONSHIPS WITH LEADERS ACROSS THE COUNTRY.
