OUR AREAS OF FOCUS WILL CONCENTRATE ON IMPROVING K-12 EDUCATION OUTCOMES AND OFFERINGS, MEETING 21ST CENTURY WORKFORCE DEMANDS, AND EDUCATING THE PUBLIC ON ANY LOCAL GOVERNMENT POLICIES WHICH WE BELIEVE WOULD AID IN JOB CREATION, ENHANCE QUALITY OF LIFE, AND/OR ATTRACT SKILLED LABOR. WE WILL DO THIS BY: CONDUCTING HIGH-QUALITY RESEARCH OF PERFORMANCE INDICATORS OVERSEEN BY ECONOMISTS AND COLLEGE PROFESSORS; COMMISSIONING PROFESSIONAL OPINION SURVEYS AND FOCUS GROUPS GAUGING LOCAL PUBLIC PERCEPTION AND OPINION ON QUALITY OF LIFE ISSUES, SUCH AS EDUCATION OR SMALL BUSINESS CLIMATE; PUBLISHING DETAILED WHITE PAPERS, FREE TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC, OUTLINING OUR FINDINGS AND RECOMMENDATIONS FOR THE PUBLIC TO CONSIDER; HOSTING TOWN HALL STYLE MEETINGS TO EDUCATE AND ENGAGE CITIZENS; INVITING LIKE-MINDED INDIVIDUALS AND COMPANIES TO FINANCIALLY SUPPORT OUR ORGANIZATION'S OPERATIONS; INVITING RENOWNED SPEAKERS TO COME TO PRESENT IN LAKELAND, SO THEY CAN OFFER IDEAS TO ADVANCE OUR COMMUNITY AND FACILITATE OPEN DISCUSSIONS WITH OUR GUESTS; TO IDENTIFY AND STUDY PROVEN MODELS AND/OR BEST PRACTICES IN ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AND EDUCATION ALREADY ESTABLISHED IN OTHER COMMUNITIES IN FLORIDA AND OTHER STATES, FOLLOWED BY GENERATING IDEAS AND/OR RESOURCES FOR HOW TO REPLICATE THOSE SUCCESSES LOCALLY; TO REPRESENT THE ORGANIZATION AT PROFESSIONAL CONFERENCES FOR RESEARCH, NETWORKING AND EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES; TO VOICE OUR POSITIONS, RECOMMENDATIONS AND/OR CONCERNS ON ANY PUBLIC POLICY MATTERS TO STATE AND LOCAL OFFICIALS ON A SELECTIVE BASIS; HOSTING A RESOURCE-RICH WEBSITE FOR THE PUBLIC TO ACCESS, WHICH WILL FEATURE THE ORGANIZATION'S RESEARCH FINDINGS, DATA PORTALS, LINKS TO HELPFUL RESOURCES, PRESS RELEASES AND OTHER RELATED INFORMATION ABOUT THE WORK OF THE ORGANIZATION; AND PROMOTING PUBLIC AWARENESS AND ENGAGEMENT WITH OUR WORK VIA TRADITIONAL, DIGITAL AND SOCIAL MEDIA OUTLETS. THESE ACTIVITIES WILL BE CONDUCTED THROUGHOUT THE YEAR BY THE ORGANIZATION'S EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR ALONG WITH HIRED CONSULTANTS AND WILL BE FUNDED BY PRIVATE CONTRIBUTIONS FROM INDIVIDUALS AND CORPORATIONS. THESE ACTIVITIES WILL ALLOW US TO PROVIDE IN-DEPTH INFORMATION ABOUT LOCAL EDUCATIONAL OUTCOMES OR ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT OUTCOMES NEVER BEFORE PRESENTED TO THE PUBLIC AT NO COST TO THEM.
