MONIRA FOUNDATION'S THE "FOUNDATION" CHARITABLE MISSION IS TO EXPAND THE REACH AND QUALITY OF ART AVAILABLE TO THE PUBLIC THROUGH RESIDENCIES EXHIBITIONS AND EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS THAT ADDRESS URGENT AND ONGOING COMMUNITY NEEDS PARTICULARLY AS THESE NEEDS EVOLVE AND CHANGE. THE FOUNDATION'S CHARITABLE ACTIVITIES INCLUDE COLLABORATING CLOSELY WITH ARTISTS CURATORS MUSICIANS PRODUCERS AND WRITES TO CONCEIVE REALIZE AND PRESENT INNOVATIVE PROJECTS IN ALL MEDIA THAT AIM TO SPARK INTENSIFY AND PROMOTE AN EVOLVING CULTURAL AND SOCIAL DIALOGUE BETWEEN CREATORS AUDIENCES AND INSTITUTIONS. THE FOUNDATION ALSO PROVIDES FREE EDUCATION AND EVENT PROGRAMMING AS WELL AS ART EXHIBITIONS FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE PUBLIC IN ORDER TO AMPLIFY ARTISTIC CONTRIBUTION TO DISTANT AND LOCAL COMMUNITIES.

THE FOUNDATION PRESENTED "INTERTWINED" A PUBLIC ART EXHIBITION IN WHICH VARIOUS ARTISTS GAVE PERFORMANCES AND FEATURED INSTALLATIONS FOCUSING ON THE INTERSECTION OF ART AND TECHNOLOGY.
THE FOUNDATION PRESENTED "THE BEAUTY OF FRIENDS BEING TOGETHER" A PUBLIC ART EXHIBITION THAT AIMED TO EDUCATE VIEWERS ABOUT THE ONGOING LIFE OF LEGENDARY ARTIST AND POET JONAS MEKAS 1922-2019. THE EXHIBITION RE-CREATED THE LIFE AND WORK OF MR. MEKAS DURING HIS TIME IN CLINTON HILL BROOKLYN WHERE HE SPENT HIS LAST PRODUCTIVE YEARS MAKING ARTISTIC WORK AND ENTERTAINING FRIENDS.
THE FOUNDATION PRESENTED HOLDING TIME AN ARTISTIC EXHIBITION FEATURING ARTISTS WHO WERE CHILDREN LIVING IN PROXIMITY TO THE WORLD TRADE CENTER DURING THE SEPTEMBER 11 2001 ATTACKS. THE SHOW EXAMINES THE PSYCHICAL AFTERLIFE OF THE SEPTEMBER 11 2001 ATTACKS AS IT HAS BEEN MEDIATED CONSCIOUSLY AND UNCONSCIOUSLY IN WORKS THAT PARTICIPANTS MADE IN THE INTERVENING PERIOD RANGING FROM PHOTOGRAPHS TAKEN ON SEPTEMBER 11 2001 TO SCULPTURE MADE IN RECENT YEARS.
