1HOOD GOES BEYOND TRADITIONAL ARTS ORGANIZATIONS, SERVING AS CULTURAL ORGANIZERS WHO LEVERAGE ARTS, MUSIC, FOOD, AND JOY TO ACTIVATE COMMUNITIES AND ADVOCATE FOR CHANGE, OUR WORK SPANS PROGRAMS, EVENTS, AND MEDIA OUTLETS ROOTED IN OUR FIVE PILLARS ARTS AND CULTURE, EDUCATION, MEDIA, CIVIC ENGAGEMENT, AND CULTURAL PRACTICES. PROGRAMS INCLUDE ARTIST DEVELOPMENT (1HOOD SELECT, ARTIVIST ACADEMY), YOUTH MEDIA LITERACY (MEDIA ACADEMY), SAFETY INITIATIVES (WE KEEP US SAFE, FRIDAYS ON DECK), CIVIC ENGAGEMENT EVENTS (PEOPLE, POWER, AND POLITICS), AND PODCASTS (BRUNCH WITH A BLACK MAN, WHAT PITTSBURGHERS NEED TO KNOW).
