THE RESILIENT SISTERHOOD PROJECT'S MISSION IS TO EDUCATE AND EMPOWER WOMEN OF AFRICAN DESCENT REGARDING COMMON BUT RARELY DISCUSSED DISEASES OF THE REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEM THAT DISPROPORTIONATELY AFFECT THEM. WE APPROACH THESE DISEASES AND ASSOCIATED ISSUES THROUGH A CULTURAL AND SOCIAL JUSTICE LENS, AS WE BELIEVE THAT POOR KNOWLEDGE OF REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH IS PRIMARILY RELATED TO HEALTH, RACIAL, AND SOCIOECONOMIC DISPARITIES.

RESILIENT SISTERHOOD PROJECT MOBILIZES BLACK WOMEN AND IMMIGRANT WOMEN OF AFRICAN DESCENT TO CHALLENGE EXISTING MEDICAL/SOCIAL INEQUITIES AND ADVOCATE FOR HEALTH IMPROVEMENTS REGARDING THE CHRONIC UNDER-DIAGNOSED AND UNDER-TREATED DISEASES OF THE REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEM THAT DISPROPORTIONALLY AFFECT US. RSP BRINGS AN EXPANSIVE DEFINITION TO THE WORD "WOMEN." THUS, THE ORGANIZATION'S DEFINITION INCLUDES TRANSGENDER WOMEN, CISGENDER WOMEN, GENDER QUEER, AND GENDER NON-CONFORMING PEOPLE. EDUCATION AND OUTREACH PROGRAMS:RSP OFFERS A MYRIAD OF EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS TO INFORM THE COMMUNITY ON THE BROAD SPECTRUM OF REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH AND JUSTICE OF BLACK WOMEN. WE DO THIS BY LEADING TRAININGS AND WORKSHOPS IN VARIOUS SETTINGS, FROM GRASSROOTS COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS, CHURCHES, HOSPITALS, SCHOOLS AND COLLEGES. WE HOST AND PARTAKE IN INFORMATION TABLES, ATTEND COMMUNITY EVENTS AND PRESENT AT CONFERENCES. REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH AND JUSTICE PROGRAM:THIS PROGRAM INCLUDES EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES TO INCREASE AWARENESS OF DIFFERENT ISSUES. WE TAKE A HOLISTIC APPROACH TO EXPLORE AND UNDERSTAND HEALTH DISPARITIES LIKE MATERNAL HEALTH, ENVIRONMENTAL AND FOOD JUSTICE, CHRONIC RACIAL STRESS, ALSO KNOWN AS "WEATHERING."INTERGENERATIONAL CHATS:THESE CHATS BRING BLACK WOMEN ACROSS GENERATIONS TOGETHER TO ADDRESS DISEASES THAT HAVE AFFECTED THEIR LIVES OF MANY GENERATIONS. WE HIGHLIGHT THE VOICES AND WISDOM OF OLDER BLACK WOMEN. YOUNG ADVISORY BOARD BLOG:THE YOUNG ADVISOR BOARD REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH BLOG SUPPORTS THE EDUCATION AND AWARENESS OF WOMEN OF AFRICAN DESCENT BETWEEN 18 AND 40 YEARS REGARDING DISEASES AND ISSUES OF THE REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH SYSTEM. THE BLOG COVERS AN ARRAY OF TOPICS INCLUDING LATEST REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH RESEARCH, CULTURAL AND SOCIAL INFLUENCES AND STIGMA MATERNAL HEALTH AND REPRODUCTIVE JUSTICE.
