THE VANG COUNCIL OF LA CROSSE STRIVES TO SERVE AS AN ACTIVE COMMUNITY LEADER IN PROMOTING CULTURAL UNDERSTANDING PRACTICES EDUCATION AND TO FOSTER A SENSE OF COMMUNITY.

IN 2023 OUR ORGANIZATION PROVIDED CRUCIAL SUPPORT TO 32 LOCAL FARMERS MOST RENTING HALF-ACREAGE OR MORE FOR FARMING GARDENING DURING THE SUMMER. WE ALLOCATED $10,000 TOWARD HOME DEPOT IN GIFT CARDS. EACH QUALIFYING PARTICIPANT RECEIVED AN AMOUNT RANGING FROM $100 TO $500. THEY WERE TO USE THE FUND TO PURCHASE TOOLS EQUIPMENT AND ESSENTIAL ITEMS FOR THEIR FIELDS WITH THE REQUIREMENT TO SUBMIT RECEIPTS FOR ACCOUNTABILITY. ADDITIONALLY WE ORGANIZED MEETINGS AND WORKSHOPS TO EDUCATE FARMERS ON LARGE-SCALE FARMING PRACTICES AND COMMUNITY CONTRIBUTIONS INCLUDING DISCUSSIONS ON SUPPORTING LOCAL PANTRIES. THROUGH THESE INITIATIVES WE AIMED TO EMPOWER LOCAL FARMERS AND ENHANCE THEIR ABILITY TO CONTRIBUTE POSITIVELY TO THEIR LIVELIHOODS AND THE COMMUNITY.


AT THE CORE OF OUR MISSION IS PROMOTING EDUCATION WITHIN OUR COMMUNITY. IN 2023 WE IMPLEMENTED SEVERAL EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS TO ENRICH AND EMPOWER OUR COMMUNITY MEMBERS. THESE INITIATIVES INCLUDED A HMONG LANGUAGE AND LITERACY CLASS A CULTURE CLASS SCHOLARSHIPS AND A SCHOOL SUPPLY PROJECT. OVER THE YEAR WE DEDICATED NEARLY $19,000 TOWARDS THESE EDUCATIONAL ENDEAVORS DEMONSTRATING OUR COMMITMENT TO FOSTERING LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES AND ACADEMIC SUCCESS WITHIN OUR COMMUNITY.


THE VANG COUNCIL OF LA CROSSE RECENTLY PROVIDED VITAL SUPPORT TO FIFTY-FOUR LOW-INCOME FAMILIES THROUGH OUR UTILITY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM. EACH FAMILY RECEIVED A ONE-TIME PAYMENT OF $400 TOWARDS THEIR ENERGY BILLS WHICH WAS SENT DIRECTLY TO THEIR ENERGY VENDOR EITHER XCEL ENERGY OR RIVERLAND COOPERATIVE. THIS INITIATIVE AIMED TO ALLEVIATE FINANCIAL BURDENS AND ENSURE THESE FAMILIES CAN MAINTAIN ESSENTIAL UTILITY SERVICES DURING CHALLENGING TIMES.
