Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
PAALF ACTION FUND WAS PROUD TO JOIN THE OREGON CHILDCARE PROJECT - A COALITION OF SIX PROGRESSIVE, RACE/GENDER JUSTICE 501(C)4 ORGANIZATIONS WORKING TO BUILD A COMPREHENSIVE CHILD CARE SYSTEM IN OREGON. WE BELIEVE THAT EVERY FAMILY IN OREGON DESERVES ACCESS TO HIGH-QUALITY, AFFORDABLE CHILD CARE THAT MEETS THEIR FAMILYS NEEDS, WHETHER ITS DURING NON-TRADITIONAL HOURS OR IN A LANGUAGE OTHER THAN ENGLISH. OUR STATES CHILD CARE WORKFORCE SHOULD BE VALUED AS A CRITICAL COMPONENT OF OUR GROWING ECONOMY. WITHOUT A COMPREHENSIVE CHILD CARE SYSTEM IN PLACE, FAMILIES ACROSS OREGON ARE FACING SERIOUS CONSEQUENCES. ITS TIME TO CHANGE THAT. WE LOOK FORWARD TO BUILDING WITH THE SIX 501(C)4 ORGANIZATIONS TO CREATE A MORE EQUITABLE OREGON FOR PARENTS AND CAREGIVERS.
ORGANIZING AND ADVOCACY:THE BLACK COMMUNITY THRIVES WHEN IT IS CONNECTED AND RECOGNIZES ITS INTERCONNECTEDNESS. EVEN AS THE BLACK COMMUNITY IN PORTLAND HAS BEEN DISPERSED ACROSS THE REGION DUE TO DISPLACEMENT AND GENTRIFICATION, FOLKS HAVE COME TOGETHER TO CELEBRATE, WORSHIP, PROTEST, GRIEVE, AND SIMPLY BE WHOLE. IN 2019 PAALF ACTION FUND LAUNCHED OUR BLACK POSSIBILITIES SURVEY COMMUNITY MAPPING CAMPAIGN. THE BLACK POSSIBILITIES SURVEY WOULD MEAN THAT WE COULD FINALLY KNOW WHERE ALL THE BLACK FOLKS ACROSS OREGON ARE LOCATED, BUILD A LASTING ORGANIZING INFRASTRUCTURE THAT WILL SUPPORT COVID-19 DISASTER RECOVERY AND FUTURE SELF-DETERMINATION CAMPAIGNS, AND WORK TOWARD BUILDING BLACK VOTER POWER ACROSS OREGON.
