COMMUNITY EDUCATION & ENGAGEMENT - THERE ARE OVER 2,000 PEOPLE IN LOUISIANA WAITING FOR A LIFESAVING ORGAN TRANSPLANT. COMMUNITY EDUCATION AND ENGAGEMENT PROGRAMS ARE AIMED AT DISPELLING MISTRUTHS SURROUNDING DONATION THAT NEGATIVELY IMPACT THE DECISION TO JOIN THE REGISTRY.THE LOPA FOUNDATION SOLICITS AND RECEIVES DONATIONS TO SUPPORT THE LOUISIANA ORGAN PROCUREMENT AGENCY'S EFFORTS TO ACHIEVE ITS CORE PURPOSE OF MAKING LIFE HAPPEN. FUNDS RAISED THROUGH THE LOPA FOUNDATION ARE USED TO PROVIDE EDUCATION PROGRAMS SUCH AS LOPA'S TRANSPLANTATION (CONTINUED ON SCHEDULE O) SCIENCE, COMMUNITY AND RECIPIENT OUTREACH THROUGH SPONSORSHIP OF TEAM LOUISIANA TO PARTICIPATE IN THE TRANSPLANT GAMES, AND ONGOING SUPPORT PROGRAMS FOR OUR DONORS' FAMILIES, SUCH AS THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE LOPA DONOR MEMORIAL PARK.
