REGIONAL S!NERGY COMPETITIONS!NERGY IS A PLATFORM FOR STUDENTS AND YOUNG ADULTS TO SHARE THEIR PROJECTS AND IDEAS IN A PROFESSIONAL SETTING. A GROUP OF JUDGES MADE UP OF DISTINGUISHED LEADERS OF THE COMMUNITY VOTE ALONG WITH THE AUDIENCE ON THE BEST IDEA AND PRESENTATION. THE WINNER RECEIVES A GRANT TO HELP FURTHER THEIR IDEA OR PROJECT. ON JANUARY 16, 2021 IAYSP HOSTED THE REGIONAL S!NERGY COMPETITION ONLINE WITH THE TWO TOP PRESENTERS OF CANADA AND TWO TOP PRESENTERS OF THE USA COMPETING. IAYSP GAVE GRANTS TO THE 1ST AND 2ND PLACE PRESENTERS: $1,000 AND $500 RESPECTIVELY.THROUGH THE ONLINE COMPETITION YOUNG PEOPLE WERE RECOGNIZED AND SUPPORTED FOR THEIR WORK TO HELP BETTER THE SOCIETY AND WORLD. A PEAK OF 113 VIEWERS WATCHED THE LIVE BROADCAST ONLINE AND MORE THAN 1,000 VIEWERS WERE REACHED SINCE THEN. A TOTAL OF 16 PEOPLE PARTICIPATED AS STAFF, PRESENTERS AND JUDGES FOR THE ONLINE EVENT. INTERFAITH HARMONY WEEK INTERVIEWON FEBRUARY 7, 2021 IAYSP CO-HOSTED AN ONLINE INTERVIEW WITH RELIGIOUS LEADERS REPRESENTING ISLAM AND HINDUISM. THE PURPOSE OF THE EVENT WAS TO SUPPORT AND BRING AWARENESS TO INTERFAITH HARMONY WEEK, ESTABLISHED BY THE UNITED NATIONS, AND TO EDUCATE VIEWERS ABOUT OTHER RELIGIONS WE MIGHT NOT KNOW SO MUCH ABOUT. A PEAK OF 19 VIEWERS WATCHED THE LIVE BROADCAST AND 311 VIEWERS WERE REACHED AFTERWARDS. A TOTAL OF 6 STAFF AND SPEAKERS PARTICIPATED FOR THE ONLINE EVENT. MLK 40 DAYS OF SERVICE IN NORTHERN CALIFORNIA FROM JANUARY 18 - FEBRUARY 27, 2021 THE LOCAL BAY AREA IAYSP/SERVICE FOR PEACE GROUP COLLABORATED WITH MULTIPLE ORGANIZATIONS FOR A LARGE MURAL PROJECT. GROUPS OF VOLUNTEERS ALSO HELPED TO CLEAN DIFFERENT PARTS OF THE CITY OF OAKLAND, CA THROUGHOUT THE 40-DAY PERIOD OF THE PROJECT. MORE THAN 100 VOLUNTEERS FROM 14 ORGANIZATIONS PARTICIPATED IN THE PROJECT, WITH 161 BAGS OF TRASH COLLECTED.LAS VEGAS SHINE CITY PROJECT VOLUNTEER GROUPEVERY SATURDAY FROM FEBRUARY 27TH, 2021 TO DECEMBER 26, 2021 THE SHINE CITY PROJECT GROUP OF IAYSP VOLUNTEERS WITH DIFFERENT ORGANIZATIONS AND PROJECTS AROUND THE LAS VEGAS, NV COMMUNITY. AT EVERY VOLUNTEER PROJECT BETWEEN 3-12 INDIVIDUALS JOIN THE GROUP. NEW JERSEY RIVER PROPERTY CLEAN UP AND YOUTH ENGAGEMENTON MARCH 27, 2021 IAYSP CO-ORGANIZED A PROPERTY CLEAN UP WITH A CHURCH YOUTH GROUP. A TOTAL OF 45 VOLUNTEERS PARTICIPATED. THE GOAL WAS TO HELP CLEAN THE RIVERSIDE PROPERTY TO HELP KEEP THE ENVIRONMENT CLEAN AND GIVE THE EXPERIENCE TO YOUNG PEOPLE ABOUT SERVING OTHERS. EARTH DAY ONLINE YOUTH DISCUSSIONON APRIL 24, 2021, IAYSP HOSTED AN ONLINE YOUTH DISCUSSION WITH DR. SEUNG-HO LEE TO CELEBRATE INTERNATIONAL MOTHER EARTH DAY. THE EVENT'S GOAL WAS TO BRING AWARENESS TO TREE PLANTING EFFORTS IN PLACES SUCH AS NORTH KOREA AND THE CAUSE OF DEFORESTATION AND THE FACTORS NEEDED TO REFOREST A COUNTRY. A PEAK OF 7 LIVE VIEWERS WATCHED THE LIVE BROADCAST AND 166 VIEWERS WERE REACHED AFTER THE EVENT. A TOTAL OF 4 STAFF AND SPEAKERS PARTICIPATED. NEW JERSEY IAYSP HAD YOUTH AND MEMBERS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR 2021 PARTICIPATE IN 8 OTHER VOLUNTEER PROJECTS WITH 35 INDIVIDUALS PARTICIPATING. THROUGH PROMOTING AND ENGAGING YOUNG PEOPLE AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS IN SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES GIVES THEM EXPERIENCE IN GIVING BACK TO THE COMMUNITY AND EXPERIENCING WHAT IT MEANS TO SERVE OTHERS. BRONX, NYC COMMUNITY GARDEN VOLUNTEER PROJECTON AUG 18, 2021 A SERVICE PROJECT WAS CO-ORGANIZED BY IAYSP. OVER 75 YOUTH AND VOLUNTEERS FROM IAYSP, UPF, CARP, AND LOCAL CITY AND CHURCH COMMUNITIES FROM THE TRI-STATE AREA CAME TOGETHER TO HELP AT THE TAQWA COMMUNITY FARM IN THE BRONX, NYC. ONLINE S!NERGY EVENTON OCTOBER 2, 2021 IAYSP HOSTED A PEACE DESIGNER SEMINAR AND ONLINE S!NERGY COMPETITION FOR YOUTH IN NEW JERSEY ON THE TOPIC OF NEW JERSEY WATERWAYS. THE NEW JERSEY OCEAN TRIBE GROUP SPONSORED THE PRIZE MONEY FOR 3 PLACEMENTS FOR THE COMPETITION. BEFORE THE EVENT, 30+ YOUTH PARTICIPATED IN THE PEACE DESIGNER SEMINAR IN PREPARATION FOR THE COMPETITION TO LEARN MORE ABOUT THE DIFFERENT ISSUES AROUND NJ'S RIVERS AND CREATE PROJECT IDEAS WITH TEAMS. ON THE DAY OF THE ONLINE EVENT 3 GROUPS PRESENTED THEIR IDEAS WITH 3 JUDGES WITH BACKGROUNDS AND EXPERTISE ON THE ENVIRONMENT REVIEWING THEIR PROPOSALS. A PEAK OF 12 LIVE VIEWERS WATCHED THE DAY OF THE EVENT AND 140 VIEWERS WERE REACHED AFTER THE EVENT. A TOTAL OF 13 STAFF, PRESENTERS AND JUDGES PARTICIPATED. THREE GROUPS PRESENTED TO A PANEL OF TREE JUDGES WHO ARE EXPERTS OR HAVE EXPERIENCE IN INTERNATIONAL AND/OR NORTH AND SOUTH KOREA RELATIONS. THERE WERE 173 VIEWS OF THE EVENT RECORDING WITH 10 STAFF, PRESENTERS AND JUDGES PARTICIPATING ON THE DAY OF THE EVENT. A TOTAL OF $1,000 USD WAS GIVEN AS PRIZE GRANTS TO THE THREE PRESENTERS TO PUT TOWARDS THEIR PROJECTS AND PROPOSALS. 2021 YOUTH HEROES' AWARDSON DEC. 29, 2021 TWO YOUNG INDIVIDUAL WERE NOMINATED AND CHOSEN TO RECEIVE IAYSP'S "YOUTH HEROE'S AWARD" RECOGNITION AND GRANT TO RECOGNIZE THEIR SUBSTANTIAL CONTRIBUTION AND IMPACT IN THE COMMUNITY AND THE WORLD.
