Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
ADIRA FINANCED GRANTS TO QUALIFIED NON-PROFITS TO INVEST IN BETTER LIVES FOR PEOPLE WITH NEURODEGENERATIVE DISEASES, STARTING WITH FIVE COMMUNITIES: ALS, ALZHEIMERS AND RELATED DEMENTIAS, HUNTINGTONS, MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS, AND PARKINSONS. IN 2022, WE IMPLEMENTED A THIRD ROUND OF COMPETITIVE GRANTMAKING ON THREE KEY TOPICS: SIMPLIFYING CLINICAL RESEARCH, PREPARING FOR FINANCIAL THREATS, AND HELPING PEOPLE THRIVE AGAIN. TOTAL GRANTS PAID FOR 2022 WERE $281,521. WE MANAGED THIS IN ADDITION TO MONITORING OUR ONGOING GRANT ACTIVITIES FROM PREVIOUS YEARS. FINALLY, WE PILOTED A SERIES OF THREE NEURODEGENERATIVE DISEASE (ND) CONGRESS EVENTS BRINGING THOSE WITH LIVED EXPERTISE IN CONVERSATION WITH CAREER EXPERTS TO DESIGN NEW GRANTS TOGETHER. UNFORTUNATELY, DUE TO A LACK OF FINANCING MOMENTUM, WE WERE FORCED TO ENTER DISSOLUTION AT THE END OF THE 2022.
ADIRAS PROGRAMS FOLLOW ITS LISTEN, LEARN, THEN ACT APPROACH TO INVEST IN BETTER LIVES FOR PEOPLE WITH NEURODEGENERATIVE DISEASES, STARTING WITH FIVE COMMUNITIES: ALS, ALZHEIMERS AND RELATED DEMENTIAS, HUNTINGTONS, MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS, AND PARKINSONS. WE SPOKE WITH AND LEARNED FROM PATIENTS AND CAREGIVERSAS WELL AS THE NON-PROFITS WHO SERVE THEM-- THROUGH MULTIPLE PLATFORMS.
