SUSTAINABLE CT PROVIDES CONNECTICUT MUNICIPALITIES WITH: A MENU OF COORDINATED, VOLUNTARY ACTIONS, TO CONTINUALLY BECOME MORE SUSTAINABLE; RESOURCES AND TOOLS TO ASSIST MUNICIPALITIES IN IMPLEMENTING SUSTAINABILITY ACTIONS AND ADVANCING THIER PROGRAMS FOR THE BENEFIT OF ALL RESIDENTS; AND OPPORTUNITIES FOR CERTIFICATION TO RECOGNIZE MUNICIPALITIES FOR THEIR ONGOING SUSTAINABILITY ACHIEVEMENTS. CURRENTLY 129 MUNICIPALITIES (COMPRISING OVER 86% OF THE STATE'S POPULATION) ARE REGISTERED FOR SUSTAINABLE CT AND 64 MUNICIPALITIES HAVE EARNED BRONZE OR SILVER CERTIFICATIONS (REPRESENTING 38% OF THE STATE'S POPULATION). COLLECTIVELY, THESE COMMUNITIES HAVE SUCCESSFULLY IMPLEMENTED SOLUTIONS THAT BUILD THRIVING LOCAL ECONOMIES, INCLUSIVE AND EQUITABLE COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS, HEALTHY AND DIVERSE HOUSING OPTIONS, CLEAN TRANSPORTATION SYSTEMS, VIBRANT AND CREATIVE CULTURAL ECOSYSTEMS, EFFICIENT AND RESILIENT INFRASTRUCTURE, WELL-STEWARDED LAND AND NATURAL RESOURCES, FORWARD-THINKING LAND USE PRACTICES, AND INCLUSIVE PUBLIC SERVICES. REGISTERED AND CERTIFIED COMMUNITIES REFLECT THE GEOGRAPHIC, ECONOMIC, AND DEMOGRAPHIC RANGE OF CONNECTICUT, INCLUDING THE STATE'S LARGEST CITIES (POPULATIONS GREATER THAN 100,000) AND SMALLEST TOWNS (POLULATIONS LESS THAN 1,500) AND MUNICIPALITIES IN EVERY COUNTY.
SUSTAINABLE CT'S COMMUNITY MATCH FUND HAS SUPPORTED OVER 217 COMMUNITY-LED SUSTAINABILITY PROJECTS IN COMMUNITIES THROUGHOUT THE STATE WITH DOLLAR- FOR-DOLLAR MATCHING FUNDS. THESE PROJECTS INCLUDE COMMUNITY GARDENS, BIKE FIX-UP JOB TRAINING PROGRAMS, ENERGY EFFICIENT CAMPAIGNS, OUTDOOR CLASSROOMS, DANCE AND ARTS PROGRAMS, POLLINATOR PATHWAYS, GREEN JOBS PROGRAMS FOR YOUTH, TREE PLANTINGS, FOOD COMPOSTING PROGRAMS, SUSTAINABILITY DISCUSSION SERIES AND EVENTS, AND PUBLIC MURALS AND ART.
