IN 2021, THE RAC OPERATED COMMUNITY BASED PROGRAMS TO ADDRESS ECONOMIC AND RACIAL DISPARITIES IN ACCESS TO HOUSING, AND TO ENCOURAGE CIVIC PARTICIPATION. WE ACCOMPLISHED THIS THROUGH ORGANIZING IMMEDIATE AND LONG-TERM SUPPORT FOR VICTIMS OF THE DEVASTATING ALMEDA FIRE, PROVIDING ESSENTIAL SUPPORT TO THE MOVEMENT FOR RACIAL JUSTICE, WINNING HEALTH AND ECONOMIC PROTECTIONS DURING COVID, AND SUPPORTING OUR LOCAL LGBTQ+ COMMUNITIES.
THE GOAL OF THE SOUTHERN OREGON COALITION FOR RACIAL EQUITY (SOEQUITY), IS TO CREATE AN EQUITABLE AND ACCESSIBLE SOUTHERN OREGON THROUGH AN ANTIRACIST LENS. WE ACCOMPLISHED THIS THROUGH ORGANIZING WITH THE MOVEMENT FOR BLACK LIVES, ORGANIZING FIRE RELIEF FOR HOUSELESS NEIGHBORS IMPACTED BY THE ALMEDA FIRE, AND ESTABLISHING A BIAS REPORTING SYSTEM FOR OUR COMMUNITIES.
