Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
AT GIVE LIKE A MOTHER, OUR MISSION IS TO MEET THE CLOTHING NEEDS, BOTH IMMEDIATE AND LONG-TERM, OF IMPOVERISHED CHILDREN IN THE CINCINNATI AREA. OUR HOPE IS TO EQUIP CHILDREN WITH THE CLOTHING, SHOES, AND SEASONAL WEAR THAT THEY NEED TO STAY SAFE AND COMFORTABLE WHILE ALSO PROVIDING THEM A SENSE OF DIGNITY AND SELF-WORTH IN THEIR HOME, SOCIAL, AND EDUCATIONAL ENVIRONMENTS. AFTER BECOMING A PARENT HERSELF, OUR FOUNDER, AMY VANN, BEGAN TO NOTICE THAT MANY CHILDREN IN OUR AREA WERE IN DESPERATE NEED OF CLOTHING. SHE FOUND A SEVERE LACK OF CLOTHING ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS IN CLERMONT COUNTY AND DECIDED TO ESTABLISH GIVE LIKE A MOTHER IN DECEMBER OF 2017. BY SOLICITING DONATIONS OF NEW OR GENTLY-USED CLOTHING, GLAM BEGAN DISTRIBUTING CLOTHING PACKS IN MAY 2018. EACH PACK CONTAINS A SCHOOL WEEK'S WORTH OF CLOTHING, INCLUDING A MINIMUM OF 5 OUTFITS, PAJAMAS, OUTERWEAR, SHOES, AND NEW SOCKS AND UNDERWEAR. BY WORKING WITH LOCAL SCHOOLS AND CHILD SERVICE AGENCIES, GLAM IS ABLE TO IDENTIFY CHILDREN IN NEED AND DISTRIBUTE THESE PACKS UP TO THREE TIMES A YEAR TO EACH CHILD. IN ADDITION TO MEETING THIS BASIC NEED, WE BELIEVE THAT THESE CLOTHING PACKS ALLOW A CHILD TO AVOID BULLYING, INCREASE THEIR SELF ESTEEM, AND IMPROVE THEIR ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE. BY MEETING A NEED THAT CONTRIBUTES TO THE WHOLE CHILD, WE HOPE TO HAVE A SMALL PART IN BREAKING THE CYCLE OF POVERTY IN CLERMONTCOUNTY.
