ENTERING HOUSING IS AN IMPORTANT STEP IN THE JOURNEY OF EMERGING FROM HOMELESSNESS, YET FOUR WALLS IS NOT ENOUGH TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM. DOWN HOME (DH) HELPS END THE CYCLE OF HOMELESSNESS BY CREATING HOMES AND A COMMUNITY WHERE FAMILIES AND INDIVIDUALS FIND COMFORT, DIGNITY, STABILITY, AND CONNECTION. IN 2023, A YEAR OF GROWTH, THE DH TEAM WAS ABLE TO SERVE 35 NEW FAMILIES (96 MEN, WOMEN, AND CHILDREN), EMPOWER 373 VOLUNTEERS, INVOLVE 17 MOVE-IN SPONSORS, ACCEPT DONATIONS FROM 814 DONORS, INCREASE WAREHOUSE SAFETY AND EFFICIENCY, AND WELCOME ONE NEW STAFF MEMBER. 100% OF CLIENTS SERVED IN 2023 REPORTED DOWN HOME PROVIDED THEIR FAMILY WITH SECURITY, COMFORT, COMMUNITY CONNECTION, AND RELIEF FROM FINANCIAL STRESSORS. ALL OF OUR CLIENTS HAVE FINANCIAL STRAINS AS 100% OF THEM ARE BELOW THE POVERTY THRESHOLD. ADDITIONALLY, 86% HAVE AN ANNUAL INCOME LESS THAN $35K, APPROXIMATELY 80% OF THEM ARE SINGLE MOTHERS, AND 85% OF OUR CLIENTS REPORTED DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES, AND/OR SUBSTANCE ABUSE AS A PAST TRAUMA/CATALYST FOR HOMELESSNESS. DURING THE FIRST YEAR AFTER THE REVEAL AND BEYOND, WE ARE INTENTIONAL IN REMAINING IN COMMUNICATION AND OFFERING ADDITIONAL OPPORTUNITIES OF SUPPORT FOR THOSE WE HAVE WELCOMED TO OUR DOWN HOME FAMILY. IN THE LAST YEAR, 100% OF THOSE SERVED BY DOWN HOME HAVE REMAINED IN COMMUNICATION THROUGH INTENTIONAL FOLLOW-UPS AND ACCEPTED ADDITIONAL RESOURCES BEYOND THE MOVE-IN DAY. RESOURCES HAVE INCLUDED OUR PARTNERS FOR A YEAR OF FREE INTERNET, BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION PACKAGES, FREE FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHY, AND AN ANNUAL CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION.
