IN 2023 THE COMPASSION CLOSET PROGRAM PROVIDED DAILY ESSENTIAL ITEMS SUCH AS CLOTHING, SHOES, HYGIENE PRODUCTS, DIAPERS, AND SMALL HOUSEHOLD GOODS TO A TOTAL OF 756 FAMILIES (2,277 INDIVIDUALS). THIS IS AN INCREASE OF 28% FROM 2022. THE GOAL FOR 2024 IS TO SERVE 1,000 FAMILIES.
SINCE 2017, OUR ORGANIZATION HAS HOSTED AN ANNUAL VISIT WITH SANTA EXPERIENCE FEATURING AN AFRICAN AMERICAN SANTA AND MRS. CLAUS. THIS EVENT DRAWS HUNDREDS OF CHARLOTTE COMMUNITY MEMBERS EACH YEAR AND DEMONSTRATES THE IMPORTANCE OF DIVERSE REPRESENTATION FOR CHILDREN. IN 2023 WE WELCOMED 405 GUESTS DURING THE FOUR HOUR EVENT.
THE COALITION FOR CULTURAL COMPASSION PARTICIPATES YEARLY IN LOCAL PRIDE EVENTS TO SUPPORT THE LGBTQ COMMUNITY. WE OFFER A SAFE OPPORTUNITY FOR MEMBERS AND ALLIES OF THE LGBTQ COMMUNITY TO PARTICIPATE IN THE PARADE ON OUR FLOAT AND VOLUNTEER IN EVENT EFFORTS.
