Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3
IN 2021 THE TRAVERSE CITY DANCE PROJECT PREMIERED ITS FIRST COMMUNITY TOUR, WHICH IS A SERIES OF FREE OUTDOOR PERFORMANCES IN LOCATIONS THAT DO NOT HAVE ACCESS TO PROFESSIONAL THEATRE OR THEIR ACCESS IS LIMITED. THE PERFORMANCE INCLUDED A NEW DANCE WORK BY A GUEST CHOREOGRAPHER AS WELL AS VIVALDI'S "THE FOUR SEASONS" THAT WAS CHOREOGRAPHED BY FOUR ARTISTS AND PERFORMED WITH A LIVE STRING QUARTET. THE TOUR INCLUDED FOUR DIFFERENT COMMUNITIES, ONE THAT IS UNDERSERVED AND THREE THAT DO NOT HAVE EASY GEOGRAPHIC ACCESS TO A PROFESSIONAL THEATER. THE PERFORMANCE WAS AN INSPIRING HOUR AND FIFTEEN MINUTES AND INCLUDED A Q & A AT THE END FOR THE AUDIENCE TO HAVE A CHANCE TO FIND OUT WHAT IT'S LIKE TO BE A PROFESSIONAL DANCER OR MUSICIAN AND ASK QUESTION ABOUT THE CREATIVE PROCESS. IN ADDITION TO THE COMMUNITY TOUR, THE TRAVERS CITY DANCE PROJECT ALSO VOLUNTEERED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE FIRST ANNUAL "ARTS IN THE PARK", WHICH WAS A COLLABORATIVE PERFORMANCE BETWEEN THE THREE LOCAL PROFESSIONAL ORGANIZATIONS. THIS WAS A VERY UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY FOR THE COMMUNITIES AS SOME OF THEM HAVE NEVER BEEN EXPOSED TO PROFESSIONAL THEATRE! 19 ARTISTS WERE EMPLOYED, 1051 AUDIENCE MEMBERS ATTENDED, AND 300 YOUTH WERE ENGAGED IN OUR YOUTH QUESTION & ANSWER PROGRAM.
