IN 2023 THE TRAVERSE CITY DANCE PROJECT CONTINUED ITS COMMUNITY TOURS WHICH ARE A SERIES OF FREE OUTDOOR PERFORMANCES IN LOCATIONS THAT DO NOT HAVE ACCESS TO PROFESSIONAL THEATRE OR WHERE ACCESS IS LIMITED. THE PERFORMANCES INCLUDED NEW DANCE WORKS BY GUEST CHOREOGRAPHERS SEYONG KIM, A PROFESSOR OF DANCE FROM WESTERN MICHIGAN UNIVERSITY, AND TRAVERSE CITY LOCAL, MADISON FALCONER AS WELL AS COLLABORATION WITH LOCAL MUSICIAN/COMPOSER JORDAN HAMILTON. THE TOUR INCLUDED FIVE DIFFERENT COMMUNITIES, ONE THAT IS UNDERSERVED AND THREE THAT DO NOT HAVE EASY GEOGRAPHIC ACCESS TO A PROFESSIONAL THEATER. THE PERFORMANCE WAS AN INSPIRING HOUR AND FIFTEEN MINUTES AND INCLUDED A Q & A AT THE END FOR THE AUDIENCE TO HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO LEARN ABOUT THE CREATIVE PROCESS AND THE LIFE OF A PROFESSIONAL DANCER. WE PROVIDED A FREE PRE-SHOW DANCE CLASS FOR YOUTHS AT ONE LOCATION, AS WELL AS PRE-SHOW MUSIC FROM OUR TALENTED MUSICIANS THAT PLAYED LIVE DURING OUR PROGRAM. OVER 500 PEOPLE OF ALL AGES ATTENDED THE COMMUNITY TOUR IN TOTAL.
