PRISM IS A BIPOC-LED NONPROFIT NEWS OUTLET THAT CENTERS THE PEOPLE, PLACES, AND ISSUES CURRENTLY UNDERREPORTED BY NATIONAL MEDIA. WERE COMMITTED TO PRODUCING THE KIND OF JOURNALISM THAT TREATS BIPOC, WOMEN, THE LGBTQ+ COMMUNITY, AND OTHER INVISIBILIZED GROUPS AS THE EXPERTS ON OUR OWN LIVED EXPERIENCES, OUR RESILIENCE, AND OUR FIGHTS FOR JUSTICE.

THROUGH OUR ORIGINAL REPORTING, ANALYSIS, AND COMMENTARY, PRISM CHALLENGES DOMINANT, TOXIC NARRATIVES PERPETUATED BY THE MAINSTREAM PRESS AND WORKS TO BUILD A FULL AND ACCURATE RECORD OF WHATS HAPPENING IN OUR DEMOCRACY.


THROUGH OUR DEMOCRATIZING PHILANTHROPY PROGRAM AREA WE HELP TO BUILD POWER AND SHIFT RESOURCES TO COMMUNITIES AND ORGANIZATIONS ON THE FRONTLINES OF JUSTICE-SEEKING WORK THROUGH INCREASING THEIR OUTREACH AND PROVIDING HANDS ON SUPPORT.


THROUGH OUR REFLECTIVE JOURNALISM PROJECT, PRISM TRAINS ASPIRING WRITERS, COMMUNITY LEADERS, AND FRONTLINE SOCIAL JUSTICE THINKERS AND ORGANIZERS ON THE EDITORIAL PROCESS, WITH THE GOAL OF BUILDING A DEEP BENCH OF CONTENT CREATORS AND GROWING THE NETWORK OF BIPOC WRITERS TELLING THEIR STORIES, SHARING THEIR EXPERIENCES, AND REPORTING ON ISSUES MAINSTREAM MEDIA OFTEN OVERLOOKS.
