THE MISSION OF THE SUN VALLEY OPERA IS TO ENTERTAIN, ENRICH AND EDUCATE THE RESIDENTS OF AND VISITORS TO THE WOOD RIVER VALLEY THROUGH OPERA AND THE VOCAL ARTS.

DUE TO THE CONTINUING COVID PANDEMIC, SUN VALLEY OPERA DID NOT HOLD ANY CONCERTS OR EVENTS IN THE WINTER OF 2021. THE 2021 SUMMER SEASON SAW A LIMITED NUMBER OF LIVE EVENTS. "MOVIE NIGHTS ON THE LAWN" AT THE PAVILLION AT SUN VALLEY RESORT PRESENTD "FUNNY GIRL- AND "THE WIZARD OF OZ" IN JUNE AND SEPTEMBER. IN JULY WE HELD A SIGNATURE SALON CONCERT STARRING WORLD RENOWNED TENOR LAWRENCE BROWNLEE IN A PRIVATE GARDEN. THE CONCERT WAS SET UP WITH SOCIAL DISTANCING. DURING AUGUST DUE TO WILDFIRES AND HEAVY SMOKE THROUGHOUT THE WOOD RIVER VALLEY, WE HELD OUR DIVA PARTY AND CONCERT STARRING LISA HOPKINS SEEGMILLER AND HER DAUGHTER ELLIE FELICE SEEGMILLER AT THE ARGYROS PERFORMING ARTS CENTER. ALL COVID GUIDELINES WERE FOLLOWED INCLUDING WEARING MASKS INDOORS AND SOCIAL DISTANCING. WE ENDED THE SEASON WITH OUR LAST CONCERT ALSO PRESENTED AT THE ARGYROS IN SEPTEMBER STARRING SOPRANO CECILIA VIOLETTA LOPEZ ACCOMPANIED BY NATHAN SALAZAR. ALSO IN 2021 WE FULFILLED OUR THIRD OF A 4 YEAR SCHOLARSHIP AWARD TO A STUDENT WHO IS STUDYING VOCAL ARTS AT THE UNIVERSITY OF PUGET SOUND. EACH YEAR WE GIVE THE UNIVERSITY 2,500 PER SEMESTER TOWARD HER TUITION. APPROXIMATELY 650 RESIDENTS AND VISITORS BENEFITTED FROM SUN VALLEY OPERA'S VARIETY OF PROGRAMS DURING THE 2021 CALENDAR YEAR.
