INTERMOUNTAIN OPERA BOZEMAN (IOB) PROVIDES WORLD-CLASS OPERA, MUSICAL THEATRE, AND EDUCATION TO MONTANA COMMUNITIES. IOB PRODUCES 3 LARGE-SCALE, PROFESSIONAL MAINSTAGE PRODUCTIONS PER SEASON: (1) A LESSER KNOWN OR NEW OPERA PRODUCED ON A SMALLER SCALE, DESIGNED TO INVITE NEW AUDIENCES TO THE ART FORM; (2) A MUSICAL THEATRE PRODUCTION; AND (3) A LARGE SCALE CLASSIC OPERA. PROFESSIONAL GUEST ARTISTS TRAVEL TO MONTANA TO PERFORM PRINCIPAL ROLES. THEY ARE SUPPORTED BY A CHORUS MADE UP OF LOCAL TALENT. ARTISTS ALSO WELCOME LOCAL SCHOOLCHILDREN TO ITS THEATRES, AND VISIT LOCAL CHOIR CLASSROOMS AT NO COST TO SCHOOLS. SINCE 2021, PROGRAMMING HAS BEEN INCREASINGLY CENTERED AROUND COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS, EDUCATION, CULTURAL RELEVANCE, AND ACCESSIBILITY. ONE EXAMPLE OF THIS IS THE CIRCLE OF RESILIENCE CONCERT, FEATURING INDIGENOUS COMPOSERS AND SINGERS, HELD IN MAY OF 2021. CIRCLE OF RESILIENCE INSPIRED A SCHOOL TOUR, LAUNCHED IN 2023 THAT BROUGHT NATIVE ARTISTS AND CULTURE TO 2,000 MONTANA SCHOOLCHILDREN. THE MONTANA MIKADO, COMMISSIONED AND PRODUCED IN 2022, REMOVED ALL RACIST TROPES FROM THE ORIGINAL GILBERT & SULLIVAN OPERETTA, AND RESET THE STORY IN BOZEMAN, MT. PAIRED WITH THE NEW WORK WAS A FIVE-PART WEBINAR SERIES UNPACKING ASIAN AMERICAN DISCRIMINATION. WEBINAR GUESTS INCLUDED THE ASIAN AMERICAN OPERA ALLIANCE AND THE ASIAN STUDENT INTERRACIAL ASSOCIATION OF MONTANA STATE UNIVERSITY.INTERMOUNTAIN OPERA BOZEMAN IS COMMITTED TO THE PRINCIPLES OF JUSTICE, EQUITY, DIVERSITY, AND INCLUSION.
