TO THRILL, INSPIRE AND EDUCATE THROUGH THE SHARED EXPERIENCE OF OPERA.

Describe the Organization's Program Activity:

DURING THE 2021/2022 SEASON, SEATTLE ARTS VENUES BEGAN THEIR REOPENING AFTER 18 MONTHS OF COVID CLOSURES. SEATTLE OPERA LAUNCHED OUR IN-PERSON REOPENING WITH AN OUTDOOR CONCERT ON THE SEATTLE CENTER CAMPUS AND THEN CONTINUED WITH 41 PERFORMANCES OF OUR MAIN SEASON. WITH STRICT COVID PROTOCOLS AND CONTINGENCY PLANS IN PLACE, WE WERE ONE OF ONLY A FEW COMPANIES IN SEATTLE AND ACROSS THE NATION THAT HAD NO PERFORMANCE CANCELLATIONS AFTER REOPENING. WE CONTINUED OUR STREAMING OPTION FOR SUBSCRIBERS WHO WERE NOT READY TO RETURN TO THE THEATER YET AND MANY TOOK US UP ON THAT. APPROXIMATELY 42,000 PEOPLE ATTENDED PERFORMANCES AT OUTDOOR VENUES, MCCAW HALL AND THE OPERA CENTER.

EDUCATION, COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT, AND YOUTH PROGRAMS LED BY SEATTLE OPERA BEGAN TO REEMERGE FOR IN-PERSON EXPERIENCES, ALTHOUGH A HEALTHY NUMBER OF PROGRAMS CONTINUE TO BE OFFERED ONLINE. IN THE 2021/22 SEASON, OUR PROGRAMS AND PARTNERSHIP OFFERINGS SERVED OVER 3,300 ADULTS, FAMILIES, STUDENTS, AND TEACHERS. THESE PROGRAMS PROVIDED LEARNING AND ENGAGEMENT ACTIVITIES THAT FOSTERED COMMUNITY BUILDING AND DEEPENED PERSONAL CONNECTIONS WITH THE ARTS AND OPERA.
