Describe the Organization's Mission:

Part 3 - Line 1

KINDERHAVEN IS A COMMUNITY ORGANIZATION DEDICATED TO SUPPORTING CHILDREN IN CRISIS AND GIVING THEM BACK THEIR RIGHT TO THRIVE BY PROVIDING A SAFE, SECURE HOME IN WHICH THEIR EMOTIONAL, PHYSICAL AND MENTAL WELL-BEING ARE PROTECTED AND ENRICHED.

Describe the Organization's Program Activity:

Part 3 - Line 4a

FROM JANUARY - JUNE OF 2022, WE PROVIDED EMERGENCY SHELTER FOR 6 CHILDREN (A TOTAL OF 566 BED NIGHTS). THE CHILDREN WERE PLACED WITH US BECAUSE THEY HAD BEEN REMOVED FROM THEIR HOMES FOR THEIR OWN SAFETY. AS OF JULY 2022, WE NO LONGER SERVE AS A GROUP HOME DUE TO THE FAMILIES FIRST PRESERVATION SERVICES ACT, SWEEPING FEDERAL LEGISLATION WHICH ELIMINATES THE TRADITIONAL USE OF GROUP HOMES LIKE KINDERHAVEN.

KINDERHAVEN FOUNDATION CREATED A GRANT-MAKING PROGRAM IN ORDER TO CONTINUE TO SERVE THE COMMUNITY AFTER WE WERE UNABLE TO CONTINUE OUR GROUP HOME. IN 2022, THE PROGRAM FUNDED BONNER HOMELESS TRANSITIONS, WHICH HELPS INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES WHO ARE HOMELESS, IN DANGER OF BECOMING HOMELESS, OR WHO LACK ADEQUATE HOUSING REACH SELF-SUFFICIENCY AND INDEPENDENT LIVING IN A SAFE AND SUPPORTIVE ENVIRONMENT. IN ADDITION TO GRANT, DONATED USE OF HOUSE AND ALL OTHER ASSETS TO BONNER HOMELESS TRANITIONS STARTING IN SEPTEMBER OF 2022.
