LEARNING LAB CREATES WELCOMING CLASSROOMS AND COMMUNITIES WHICH SUPPORT HUMAN CONNECTIONS AND LEARNING. PROFESSIONAL TEACHERS, VOLUNTEER TUTORS AND PURPOSEFUL TECHNOLOGY WORK TOGETHER TO TRANSFORM THE LIVES OF ADULTS AND FAMILIES THROUGH PERSONALIZED EDUCATION.

LEARNING LAB PROVIDES LITERACY CLASSES TO ADULTS WHO WANT TO IMPROVE THEIR READING, WRITING, MATH, ENGLISH LANGUAGE, EARN THEIR GED, OR STUDY FOR THE U.S. CITIZENSHIP TEST. AT ENROLLMENT, EACH STUDENT IS TESTED AND INTERVIEWED TO DETERMINE LITERACY LEVELS, EDUCATIONAL GOALS, BARRIERS, FAMILY INCOME AND EMPLOYMENT STATUS. STUDENTS PRIORITIZE GOALS WITH THEIR TEACHER, WHO THEN CREATES AN INDIVIDUALIZED COURSE OF STUDY. CLASSES INCLUDE INTERACTIVE COMPUTER PROGRAMS AND VOLUNTEER TUTOR ASSITANCE WITH ONE-ON-ONE OR SMALL GROUP INSTRUCTION USING SUPPLEMENTARY MATERIALS.
THE FAMILY LITERACY PROGRAM INCORPORATES ADULT EDUCATION, EARLYCHILDHOOD EDUCATION, PARENT & CHILD TOGETHER TIME (PACT) AND PARENT TIME.WHILE PARENTS IMPROVE THEIR LITERACY SKILLS IN THEIR ADULT CLASSES,THEIR CHILDREN, AGED 2 MOS. TO 5 YEARS, PARTICIPATE IN HIGH-QUALITY,DEVELOPMENTALLY APPROPRIATE, PLAY-BASED, LEARNING ACTIVITIES IN THEIROWN CLASSROOMS. PARENTS REGULARLY PARTICIPATE IN THEIR CHILD'SCLASSROOM SO THEY LEARN HOW TO BETTER SUPPORT THEIR CHILD'S DEVELOPMENTAND UNDERSTAND THE IMPORTANCE OF ENGAGING IN THEIR CHILD'S EDUCATION INTHE EARLIEST YEARS.
