BEYOND THE WALLS:OVER THE PAST YEAR, THRIVE FOR LIFE BEGAN OUR NATIONAL EXPANSION ROLLOUT, STARTING FIRST IN MILWAUKEE, WI.PARTNERSHIP OF MARQUETTE UNIVERSITY AND THE CAPUCHIN FRANCISCANS, A NEW HOUSEWILL OPEN TO SERVE 8-10 RETURNING CITIZENS CONTINUING THE GOOD WORK OF COLLEGE EDUCATION IN MILWAUKEEWHERE WE HAVE CULTIVATED A STRONG NETWORK OF COMMUNITY, FAITH, AND EDUCATION PARTNERS. WE HAVE ALSO SECURED HOUSING TO LAUNCH A NEW SITE IN QUEENS, NY IN COLLABORATION WITH ST. JOHNS UNIVERSITY TO OPEN THE VERY FIRST IGNACIO HOUSE OF STUDIES FOR WOMEN. WE ANTICIPATE OPENING THIS NEW HOUSE INTHE FALL 2023 ACADEMIC SEMESTER. WE NOW LOOK FORWARD TO CONTINUING OUR DISCERNMENT REGARDINGEXPANSION TO WASHINGTON DC AND NEW ORLEANS, LA WHERE WE HAVE ENTERED INTO PARTNERSHIPSWITH LOCAL AREA UNIVERSITIES TO PROVIDE PATHWAYS TO FULL DEGREE BEARING PROGRAMS FOR RESIDENT SCHOLARS.
BEHIND THE WALLS (CONTEMPLATION):FIRST RETREAT FOR FAMILIES AFFECTED BY INCARCERATION. MORE THAN 300 PEOPLE ATTENDED THE RETREAT THAT TOOK PLACE ON MARCH 20TH, 2022, AT THE PARISH OF OUR LADY OF SORROWS, IN CORONA, QUEENS. EVERY MONTH, MORE THAN 400 NEWSLETTERS ARE SENT TO INCARCERATED MEN AND WOMEN, AND CATHOLIC CHAPLAINS, IN MORE THAN 35 CORRECTIONAL FACILITIES ACROSS THE UNITED STATES.RELIGIOUS SERVICES WERE PROVIDED AT RIKERS, AS WELL AS 6 CORRECTIONAL FACILITIES IN THE STATE OF NY AND ONE MORE IN NJ. IGNATIAN RETREATS RESTARTED AT OTISVILLE CORRECTIONAL FACILITY, IN NY, WHICH TAKES PLACE ONCE EVERY OTHER MONTH. IN COLLABORATION WITH THE CHURCH OF ST. FRANCIS XAVIER, TFL SEND ALMOST 200 CHRISTMAS CARDS TO INCARCERATED MEN AND WOMEN IN NY. IN COLLABORATION WITH THE CHURCH OF ST. PIUS X, IN SCARSDALE, THRIVE FOR LIFE SENT 200 MOTHERS DAY CARDS TO MEN INCARCERATED IN THE STATE OF NY SO THEY COULD WRITE TO THEIR LOVED ONES.
