THE BAIL PROJECT IS A NATIONAL NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION THAT PAYS BAIL FOR PEOPLE IN NEED, REUNITING FAMILIES AND RESTORING THE PRESUMPTION OF INNOCENCE.

IN FY21, THE BAIL PROJECT MARKED FOUR YEARS OF OPERATIONS WITH NEARLY 18,000 INDIVIDUALS HELPED NATIONWIDE AND OVER $46 MILLION IN FREE BAIL ASSISTANCE. THE BAIL PROJECT SUPPORTED THESE CLIENTS IN MORE THAN 50,000 COURT DATES FOR A 93% COURT APPEARANCE RATE, OFFERING FURTHER EVIDENCE THAT CASH BAIL IS NOT A NECESSARY INCENTIVE TO ENSURE PEOPLE RETURN TO COURT. THIS HIGH RETURN TO COURT RATE CONTINUES TO ENSURE THE SUSTAINABILITY OF THE BAIL PROJECT'S NATIONAL REVOLVING BAIL FUND WITH 92% OF BAIL PAYMENTS RETURNING AFTER CASES CLOSE AND ALLOWING THE ORGANIZATION TO HELP ADDITIONAL PEOPLE. IN FY21, THE BAIL PROJECT ALSO BEGAN ITS NEXT PHASE OF EXPANSION THROUGH THE "BAIL OUT THE SOUTH" INITIATIVE, WHICH FOCUSES ON BRINGING FREE BAIL ASSISTANCE TO PEOPLE IN THE DEEP SOUTH, WHILE THE ORGANIZATION CONTINUES TO ADVOCATE FOR THE ELIMINATION OF CASH BAIL.
