TO PROVIDE EDUCATIONAL AND/OR CHARITABLE SERVICES TO IMPROVE THE HEALTH AND WELLBEING OF YOUTH THROUGH MINDFULNESS PROGRAMS.
Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
STUDENT WELL-BEING: YOUTH YOGA PROJECT EMPOWERS STUDENTS WITH PRACTICAL TOOLS TO MANAGE THEIR STRESS AND EMOTIONS AND CULTIVATE POSITIVE MENTAL HEALTH. STUDENTS LEARN MINDFULNESS AND MOVEMENT TOOLS, SUCH AS DEEP BREATHING AND GUIDED RELAXATION, THROUGH OUR YEAR-LONG CURRICULUM AND WELL-BEING PROGRAMMING THAT IS DIRECTLY INTEGRATED INTO SCHOOLS. THIS YEAR, MORE THAN 50,000 STUDENTS FROM 30 DIFFERENT SCHOOL DISTRICTS LEARNED STRATEGIES TO SUPPORT THEIR EMOTIONAL WELL-BEING THROUGH YOUTH YOGA PROJECT CURRICULUM. AFTER COMPLETING OUR PROGRAM, STUDENTS REPORT AN INCREASE IN THEIR ABILITIES TO MANAGE THEIR STRESS AND EMOTIONS.
EDUCATOR WELL-BEING: YOUTH YOGA PROJECT SUPPORTS THE EMOTIONAL AND MENTAL HEALTH OF EDUCATORS BY EQUIPPING THEM WITH MINDFULNESS TOOLS TO REDUCE STRESS AND INCREASE SELF-AWARENESS. WHEN THESE MINDFULNESS TOOLS ARE INTEGRATED INTO THEIR DAILY WORK AND LIFE, EDUCATORS REPORT MORE JOY AND SATISFACTION IN THEIR WORK. ONE TEACHER REPORTED, THIS PROGRAM WAS A SPECTACULAR REMINDER OF HOW IMPORTANT IT IS TO TAKE CARE OF MYSELF AND MAKE TIME FOR THESE PRACTICES BECAUSE I AM A BETTER PERSON FOR OTHERS WHEN I DO. THIS YEAR, YOUTH YOGA PROJECT SUPPORTED THE MENTAL HEALTH OF EDUCATORS BY PROVIDING A MINDFULNESS FOR EDUCATORS COURSE AND HOSTING OUR FIRST ANNUAL EDUCATOR WELL-BEING RETREAT.
SCHOOL WELL-BEING: YOUTH YOGA PROJECT'S SCHOOL AND DISTRICT-WIDE PARTNERSHIPS EMPOWER ENTIRE SCHOOL STAFFS WITH TRAINING AND CURRICULUM TO HELP PRIORITIZE THE WELL-BEING OF STUDENTS AND STAFF. THIS INCLUDES TRAINING TO HELP SCHOOLS IMPLEMENT OUR RESET PROGRAM. RESET IS A RESEARCH- BASED, ALTERNATIVE DISCIPLINE PROGRAM THAT EQUIPS STUDENTS WITH SELF- REGULATION TOOLS. THROUGH RESET, SCHOOL DISTRICTS OFFER AN ALTERNATIVE TO EXCLUSIONARY DISCIPLINE PRACTICES AND HAVE SEEN A DECREASE IN DISCIPLINE REFERRALS, RESULTING IN A MORE POSITIVE, INCLUSIVE SCHOOL CULTURE.
