THE LEXINGTON FARMERS' MARKET (LFM) WAS FOUNDED IN 2005, WITH 2023 THE BEGINNING OF ITS 19TH SEASON. THE LFM HOLDS THREE MARKETS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR: REGULAR SEASON MARKET FROM THE END OF MAY TO THE END OF OCTOBER, A ONE-DAY THANKSGIVING FEASTIVAL THE TUESDAY BEFORE THANKSGIVING, AND A BIWEEKLY INDOOR SMALL YET MIGHTY WINTER MARKET FROM JANUARY - MID APRIL. THE LFM IS A PRODUCER-ONLY MARKET, MEANING FARMERS AND VENDORS CAN BRING ONLY WHAT THEY GROW OR MAKE, AND HAS A CAREFUL VETTING PROCESS FOR PARTICIPANTS. THE REGULAR SEASON MARKET TRADITIONALLY HOSTS UP TO 24 FARMERS AND VENDORS PER MARKET AS WELL AS TWO DIFFERENT ARTISANS PER MARKET. IN ADDITION, THE LFM HOSTS COMMUNITY GROUPS AND LOCAL ENTERTAINMENT, AND ALSO HOLD SPECIAL EVENTS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR TO SUPPORT HEALTHY EATING AND NUTRITION. THE LFM WAS THE FIRST FARMERS' MARKET IN METROWEST BOSTON TO OFFER A SNAP MATCH PROGRAM, DOUBLING THE BENEFITS UP TO $15 PER MARKET VISIT FOR ELIGIBLE CUSTOMERS. IN 2023, THE LFM SPENT MORE THAN $19,513 OF PRIVATELY RAISED FUNDS FOR THE SNAP MATCH PROGRAM, BOOSTING THE FOOD DOLLARS OF THOSE WHO ARE FOOD INSECURE. THE LFM IS A RESPECTED COMMUNITY INSTITUTION AND WORKS CLOSELY WITH LEXINGTON TOWN OFFICIALS AND PARTNER ORGANIZATIONS TO BRING HEALTHY, LOCAL FOOD TO THE LEXINGTON LOCAL FOOD COLLABORATIVE, INC.
