THE MISSION OF RESCUING LEFTOVER CUISINE ("RLC") IS TO BECOME THE WORLD'S MOST WIDELY USED SOLUTION FOR COMPANIES AND INDIVIDUALS TO ELIMINATE FOOD WASTE IN THEIR COMMUNITIES, MAKING FOOD RESCUE SUSTAINABLE AND UNIVERSAL, AND FOOD HUNGER A THING OF THE PAST.

THE LARGEST ACCOMPLISHMENT IN 2023 WAS A FOOD RESCUE OPERATION ESTABLISHED WITH PEPSICO. IN PORTLAND, OREGON, A PEPSICO FACTORY OF FRITO LAY PRODUCES LARGE AMOUNTS OF SNACKS INCLUDING CHIPS, PRETZELS, AND OTHER SNACKS. RLC WORKS WITH THIS FRITO LAY FACTORY AS NEEDED, PICKING UP ON AVERAGE THOUSANDS OF POUNDS OF CASES OF SNACKS THAT WOULD OTHERWISE HAVE BEEN THROWN OUT. RLC DELIVERS THIS TO MANY FOOD BANKS, HOMELESS SHELTERS, AND SOUP KITCHENS AROUND THE PORTLAND AREA. MORE THAN 1,000 PEOPLE BENEFIT FROM THE FOOD DONATED BY FRITO LAY ON EACH DELIVERY. IN 2023, THE PARTNERSHIP CONTINUED TO EXPAND AND RESULTED IN 2,487,000 POUNDS OF FOOD THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN THROWN OUT TO ACCOMPANY MEALS FED TO THOSE IN NEED. THE SECOND LARGEST ACCOMPLISHMENT IN 2023 WAS A FOOD RESCUE OPERATION ESTABLISHED WITH TRUROOTS. TRUROOTS MAKES NATURAL, ORGANIC FOODS AND BEVERAGES LIKE SANTA CRUZ ORGANIC AND RW KNUDSEN FRUIT JUICES AND NAMESAKE ANCIENT GRAINS. THESE PRODUCTS ARE DELIVERED DIRECTLY TO CONSUMERS, AND THE WAREHOUSES THAT SHIP THESE PRODUCTS DONATE EXCESS INVENTORY TO RLC. THESE WAREHOUSES THROUGHOUT THE COUNTRY INCLUDING IN MARYLAND DONATE THIS HEALTHY PRODUCT SO THAT IT DOES NOT GO TO WASTE. INSTEAD, IT HELPS FEED HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF MEALS FOR THE FOOD INSECURE IN THOSE LOCAL AREAS. IN 2023, THIS PARTNERSHIP RESULTED IN 246,252 POUNDS OF FOOD BEING RESCUED. RLC FIRST ESTABLISHED ITS THIRD LARGEST FOOD RESCUE OPERATION WITH GOOD KARMA FOODS (NY) LAST YEAR AND SINCE THEN THE UPSTATE NY WAREHOUSE DONATES THEIR EXCESS TO RLC. GOOD KARMA FOODS PRODUCES LARGE AMOUNTS OF PLANT-BASED, NON-DAIRY MILK SUBSTITUTES. RLC WORKS WITH THE WAREHOUSE ON A ONE-OFF BASIS TO GET OBSOLETE INVENTORY DONATED THAT IS ON AVERAGE THOUSANDS OF CASES OF FOOD THAT WOULD HAVE OTHERWISE BEEN THROWN OUT. MORE THAN 100,000 PEOPLE AND CHILDREN HAVE BENEFITED FROM THE HEALTHY FOOD DONATED BY GOOD KARMA FOODS. IN 2023, THE PARTNERSHIP RESULTED IN 142,800 POUNDS OF FOOD BEING RESCUED.
