126 INDEPENDENT FILMS FROM AROUND THE WORLD WERE SCREENED OVER THE COURSE OF 10-DAYS AT THE REGAL UA MIDWAY WITH ADDITIONAL FREE PROGRAMMING THAT INCLUDED SCREENINGS, SPECIAL GUEST SPEAKERS, AND SEMINARS AT THE FOREST HILLS LIBRARY. APPROXIMATE 1800 ATTENDEES WERE PRESENT, BRINGING IT TO OVER 50% OF PRE-PANDEMIC THEATER ATTENDANCE. THE FESTIVAL CULMINATED WITH AN AWARDS DINNER PRESENTATION WHERE 17 AWARD STATUETTES WERE HANDED OUT AMONG THE WINNERS OF THE YEAR'S EVENT AT THE JAMAICA CENTER FOR PERFORMING ARTS. DUE TO THE AFFECTS OF COVID-19 STAFF AND LEADERSHIP TOOK A CUT IN SALARIES AND EXPENSES, WITH LESS VOLUNTEERS THAN IN PRE-PANDEMIC TIMES. WITH EXTRA SUPPORT FROM COVID RELATED GRANTS AND GENEROUS FOUNDATION GRANTS AND PRIVATE DONATIONS, THE ORGANIZERS WERE ABLE TO SUCCESSFULLY HOLD ANOTHER EVENT IN 2022.
