THE PRIMARY PURPOSE FOR WHICH WETSEMBEKILE MINISTRIES EXISTS IS TO COME ALONGSIDE RURAL AND IMPOVERISHED COMMUNITIES IN SWAZILAND, AFRICA TO SEE CHURCHES BECOMING HEALTHY AND TAKING CARE OF THE PHYSICAL, SPIRITUAL, AND RELATIONAL NEEDS OF THEIR COMMUNITIES.

COMMUNITY CENTERS: AT THE TWO COMMUNITY CENTER LOCATIONS, APPROXIMATELY 31,200 MEALS WERE SERVED TO ORPHANED AND VULNERABLE CHILDREN OF ALL AGES DURING 2018. THE FOOD IS PROVIDED BY WETSMBEKILE MINISTRIES AND PREPARED AND SERVED BY VOLUNTEERS SIX DAYS EACH WEEK. YOUNGER CHILDREN ARE PROVIDED PRESCHOOL IN ADDITION TO THEIR MEAL. SCHOOL-AGED CHILDREN COME AFTER SCHOOL TO EAT ON WEEKDAYS AND ALL ARE FED ON WEEKENDS. ONE COMMUNITY CENTER PROPERTY WAS FENCED IN 2018 TO PROVIDE A SAFER ENVIRONMENT FOR THE CHILDREN AS WELL AS KEEP FREE RANGE ANIMALS OFF THE PROPERTY.
BENEVOLENCE AND COMMUNITY OUTREACH: IN 2018 WETSEMBEKILE MINISTRIES PROVIDED FOOD, HOUSING AND BASIC HOUSEHOLD IMPROVEMENTS FOR PEOPLE WITH NO OR SEVERELY INADEQUATE HOUSING, FUNDS FOR MEDICAL HELP AND TRANSPORTATION AND ASSISTANCE WITH PAYING SCHOOL FEES TO STRUGGLING PEOPLE IN THE COMMUNITY, INCLUDING CHILD-LED HOMESTEADS. HYGIENE SUPPLIES WERE DISTRIBUTED TO APX 220 INDIVIDUALS AND BIBLES WERE DISTRIBUTED TO MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY.
WATER RESOURCES: DURING 2018 THE THREE WELLS AND WATER DISTRIBUTION SYSTEMS STARTED IN 2017 WERE COMPLETED AND MAINTAINED. THROUGH THESE WELLS AND DISTRIBUTION SYSTEMS, OVER 250 HOMESTEADS CONTINUE TO HAVE ACCESS TO CLEAN WATER WITHIN 1 KM OF THEIR HOMES INSTEAD OF HAVING TO WALK UP TO 7 KM TO FIND WATER AND CARRY IT BACK. IN ADDITION TO IMPROVING THEIR HEALTH, THIS ENABLES THEM TO GARDEN ON THEIR PROPERTY AND RAISE PRODUCE AND LIVESTOCK FOR THEIR OWN CONSUMPTION AND IN SOME CASES, SELL TO RAISE MONEY TO HELP SUPPORT THEIR HOMESTEADS.
