SULLIVAN 180'S MISSION IS TO IMPROVE THE HEALTH AND WELL-BEING OF THE RESIDENTS OF SULLIVAN COUNTY BY CHANGING POLICIES, SYSTEMS AND PROGRAMS THAT WILL IMPROVE OVERALL QUALITY OF LIFE.

THE PRINCIPLE ACTIVITIES AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF SULLIVAN 180 ARE: (1) TRAINING AND MANAGING VOLUNTEER COMMUNITY HEALTH CHAMPIONS THROUGHOUT SULLIVAN COUNTY TO PROVIDE HEALTH EDUCATION AND MOTIVATION TO LOCAL COMMUNITIES, CIVIC GROUPS, FAITH BASED ORGANIZATIONS, NON-PROFITS, BUSINESSES, WORKPLACES AND SCHOOLS; (2) SUPPORTING COMMUNITY PARTNERS AND STAKEHOLDERS IN APPLYING FOR GRANTS FROM VARIOUS FUNDING SOURCES; (3) EDUCATING AND ENGAGING COMMUNITY LEADERS IN EVIDENCE BASED STRATEGIES IDENTIFIED IN THE SULLIVAN COUNTY COMMUNITY HEALTH IMPROVEMENT PLAN; (4) MARKETING COMMUNITY RESOURCES THAT IMPROVE HEALTH INCLUDING GOVERNMENT AND NONPROFIT HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES THAT SUPPORT REDUCTION OF CHRONIC DISEASE, SUBSTANCE USE DISORDER AND MENTAL HEALTH CRISIS; (5) REDUCING STIGMA AROUND SUBSTANCE USE AND MENTAL DISORDERS BY LEADING TRAINING AND EVENTS SUCH AS INTERNATIONAL OVERDOSE AWARENESS DAY, QPR (QUESTION, PERSUADE, REFER) SUICIDE PREVENTION TRAINING, MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AID, THE BASICS PARENTING PROGRAM AND SCREENINGS OF "RESILIENCE" TO PROVIDE EDUCATION AROUND ADVERSE CHILDHOOD EXPERIENCES (ACE'S) AND THEIR IMPACT ON LONG TERM HEALTH OUTCOMES; (6) RALLYING SULLIVAN COUNTY SCHOOLS TO JOIN THE EMPOWERING A HEALTHIER GENERATION MOVEMENT BY IMPLEMENTING SCHOOL DISTRICT WELLNESS POLICIES AND DEVELOPING SCHOOL BASED WELLNESS COMMITTEES AND LEADERS.
