Describe the Organization's Program Activity:

Part 3 - Line 4a

THE SPOT WAS ABLE TO PRODUCE A FULL SEASON OF PRODUCTIONS IN 2022 FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE THE PANDEMIC SHUTDOWN. FEATURING PRODUCTIONS OF SWEENEY TODD, THE SOUND INSIDE AND PASS OVER IN THE MAIN STAGE SEASON AND THE DROWSY CHAPERONE FOR ITS TUITION-FREE YOUNG COMPANY PROGRAM (WHICH SERVED 16 HIGH SCHOOLERS THIS YEAR), THE SPOT STAGE WAS ALIVE WITH LIVE THEATER. IN TOTAL, NEARLY 2,000 AUDIENCE MEMBERS FILLED THE SEATS. WITH PASS OVER, THE SPOT EXTENDED ITS REACH BY PRODUCING THE PLAY AT THE ARGYROS, A LARGE PERFORMING ARTS CENTER IN KETCHUM, IDAHO, WHICH ALLOWED FOR EXPANDED AUDIENCES AND NURTURED LARGER CONVERSATIONS FOR THE SPOT TALK-BACK PROGRAM AFTER SELECTED PERFORMANCES. AS A NEWLY-MINTED SPT (SMALL PROFESSIONAL THEATER) BY ACTORS' EQUITY ASSOCIATION, THE SPOT OFFERED A RECORD EIGHT UNION CONTRACTS TO THEATER PROFESSIONALS AND MATCHED THE RATE FOR OVER A DOZEN NON-UNION ARTISTS, CREW AND MUSICIANS. FINANCIALLY, THE SPOT INVESTED HEAVILY IN ITS WORK IN 2022 TO RECAPTURE THE MOMENTUM THAT WAS SUSPENDED DURING THE PANDEMIC. DESPITE THE HIGH COST OF SHOW AND CONTRACTOR EXPENSES, THE ORGANIZATION EXPANDED ITS PAYROLL AND KEPT ITS STAFF EMPLOYED. THE SPOT ALSO UTILIZED THE EMPLOYEE RETENTION CREDIT OFFERED BY THE IRS FOR KEEPING ITS STAFF FULLY PAID DURING THE SHUTDOWN AND EXPECTS TO RECEIVE THE REFUND CHECKS IN 2023.
