WE PROVIDE AN EDUCATIONAL VENUE FOR YOUNG ARTISTS TO COLLABORATE WITH PROFESSIONAL MENTORS AND PRODUCE EXHILARATING WORKS, CONTEMPORARY AND CLASSICAL, IN AN EFFORT TO MAKE THEATRE ACCESSIBLE TO THE LARGER COMMUNITY & EXPLORE OUR COLLECTIVE HUMANITY.

IN 2021, THE SPOT RE-OPENED WITH AN OUTREACH FOCUSED ON LATINX AND HISPANIC ARTWORK, IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE LOCAL COMMUNITY AND LA BASED ARTIST JOHN ZENDER ESTRADA, WHERE OVER 100 MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC COULD ENTER THE SPOT FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE JANUARY 2020 AND VIEW A FREE EXHIBITION, INCLUDING AN ORIGINAL PIECE PAINTED ON ONE OF THE SPOT'S WALLS. FOLLOWING THE RE-OPENING, THE SPOT PRODUCED ITS FIRST FULL-LENGTH PRODUCTION IN OVER A YEAR WITH THE DIGITAL PERFORMANCE OF THE LIFESPAN OF A FACT BY BY JEREMY KAREKEN & DAVID MURRELL AND GORDON FARRELL, WHICH WAS VIEWED ALL OVER THE UNITED STATES AND EUROPE. IN THE SUMMER OF 2021, THE SPOT WAS ONE OF THE FIRST UNION THEATERS IN THE COUNTRY TO RE-OPEN ITS DOORS TO LIVE AUDIENCES FOR HEROES OF THE FOURTH TURNING BY WILL ARBERY, WHICH WAS SEEN BY OVER 300 MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY. IN THE WINTER OF 2021, THE SPOT PRODUCED ONCE: THE MUSICAL WITH 20 YOUTH FOR OVER 300 MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY. IT WAS THE FIRST LIVE YOUNG COMPANY PRODUCTION SINCE 2019. FINANCIALLY, THE SPOT WAS AIDED BY PAYCHECK PROTECTION PROGRAM, AS WELL AS DOZENS OF INDIVIDUAL DONORS FOR ITS GENERAL FUND. THE SPOT ALSO RECEIVED MAJOR GIFTS TO START AN ENDOWMENT FUND AND A NEW RESTRICTED FUND TO BE USED FOR AN INCREASE IN PAYROLL TO PROVIDE COMPENSATION FOR A PART-TIME ADMINISTRATOR.
