IN 2023, THE NSCR ADAPTIVE INDOOR TRAINING PROGRAM GREW TO RECORD NUMBERS. TRAINING WAS HELD JANUARY THROUGH MID-MAY AT BASE CAMP, IN BLOOMINGTON, MINNESOTA. 20 ADAPTIVE ATHLETES, INCLUDING 1 U.S. VETERAN, COMPLETED 12 WEEKS OF INDOOR ROWING AND STRENGTH TRAINING. NSCR IS THE ONLY FREEDOM ROWS PROGRAM IN THE REGION. FREEDOM ROWS, A PARTNERSHIP OF THE UNITED STATES VETERANS ADMINISTRATION AND USROWING, PROVIDES GRANTS TO SUPPORT ROWING TRAINING FOR INJURED US VETERANS. FOUR NSCR ADAPTIVE ATHLETES PARTICIPATED IN THE 2023 MINNEAPOLIS SPRINTS REGATTA AT LAKE NOKOMIS, MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA. THE 2023 SUMMER ON-THE-WATER ROWING SEASON WAS VERY SUCCESSFUL WITH 6 FULLY SUBSCRIBED ROWING SESSIONS OFFERED PER WEEK FOR 10 WEEKS. 18 ADAPTIVE ATHLETES, INCLUDING 2 U.S. VETERANS, PARTICIPATED IN THE ON-THE-WATER SEASON. THE SUCCESSFUL SEASON WAS MADE POSSIBLE BY THE HELP OF 10 VOLUNTEERS WHO CONTRIBUTED 300 HOURS OF PROGRAM SUPPORT. ON-THE-WATER PROGRAMMING WAS HELD AT SILVER LAKE/SILVERWOOD PARK THROUGH A PARTNERSHIP WITH THE THREE RIVERS PARK DISTRICT. THE NSCR UPPER HARBOR MISSISSIPPI RIVER ACCESS REMAINED CLOSED IN 2023 DUE TO THE UPPER HARBOR REDEVELOPMENT PROJECT.
