NOCD-NY IS A CITYWIDE ALLIANCE OF CULTURAL NETWORKS AND COMMUNITY LEADERS THAT HAVE JOINED TOGETHER TO REVITALIZE NEW YORK CITY FROM THE NEIGHBORHOOD UP. NOCD-NY CAME TOGETHER IN 2010 IN RESPONSE TO THE VISION, SUSTAINED NEEDS, AND CREATIVE RESILIENCE OF OUR DIVERSE COMMUNITIES. WE FACILITATE PEER LEARNING, INCREASE THE VISIBILITY OF COMMUNITY-BASED WORK, AND PROVIDE SERVICES IN SUPPORT OF IT. NOCD-NY'S WORK IS GROUNDED IN VALUES INCLUDING EQUITY, DIVERSITY, INCLUSION, AND RECOGNITION OF THE INTEGRAL ROLE OF ARTS AND CULTURE IN COMMUNITIES. THESE SHARED VALUES ENABLE US TO SPEAK WITH A UNIFIED VOICE AND ARE THE GLUE THAT HOLDS OUR ALLIANCE TOGETHER OVER TIME.

ART AND PUBLIC HOUSING - ARTS AND CULTURE PROGRAMS IN PUBLIC HOUSING COMMUNITIES INCLUDE CULTURAL PROGRAMMING AT GOWANUS COMMUNITY CENTER AND QUEENSBRIDGE HOUSES, ARTIST RESIDENCIES, PARTNERSHIPS WITH CULTURAL ORGANIZATIONS, THE DEVELOPMENT OF RESIDENT CULTURAL COUNCILS, AND THE DISTRIBUTION OF THE CREATIVE TRANSFORMATIONS: STORIES, LEARNINGS, AND RECOMMENDATIONS TO SUPPORT ARTS, CULTURE, AND PUBLIC HOUSING COMMUNITIES REPORT. IN 2022 THIS PROJECT SERVED 500 INDIVIDUALS.


OTHER PROGRAMS OF NOCD-NY FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 2022 INCLUDE CONVENING'S & WORKSHOPS, FIELD BUILDING, KENSINGTON PROGRAMMING AND GENERAL PROGRAMMING EXPENSES.


THE NARRATIVE POWER PROJECT IS A COLLABORATION WITH THE NYC DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND MENTAL HYGIENE THAT CONNECTS ARTS AND CULTURE WITH PUBLIC HEALTH.


REIMAGINING NEW YORK CITY IS AN INITIATIVE IN PARTNERSHIP WITH CULTURAL ORGANIZATIONS ACROSS NEW YORK CITY THAT INCLUDES VISIONING SESSIONS AND ARTIST COMMISSIONS THAT INCORPORATES THE WISDOM AND CREATIVE PRACTICES OF OUR COMMUNITIES. IN 2022 THIS PROJECT SERVED 250 INDIVIDUALS.
