THE FORUM OF LABORATORY ACCREDITATION EACH YEAR, TNI SPONSORS TWO MEETINGS WHERE SCIENTISTS, REGULATORS AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC GATHER TO ENGAGE IN DIALOGUE ABOUT BUILDING A NATIONAL PROGRAM FOR THE ACCREDITATION OF ENVIRONMENTAL TESTING LABORATORIES AND RELATED ORGANIZATIONS. IN 2023, THE MEETINGS INCLUDED DISCUSSIONS ON TESTING FOR SARS-COV-2(COVID) IN WASTWATER AND CONTINUED DISCUSSION ON TEH ANALYSIS OF THE "FOREVER CHEMICALS" , POLYFLUORINATE ALKYL SUBSTANCES. OVER 800 INDIVIDUALS PARTICIPATED IN THE 2023 MEETINGS. FOR THE EIGHTEENTH YEAR, THE SUMMER MEETING WAS COMBINED WITH THE NATIONAL ENVIRONMENTAL MONITORING CONFERENCE IN COOPERATION WTIH THE US ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY.
NATIONAL ENVIRONMENTAL LABORATORY ACCREDITATION PROGRAM TNI'S NATIONAL ENVIRONMENTAL LABORATORY ACCREDITATION PROGRAM(NELAP) NOW HAS 14 STATES AND 15 ACCREDITATION BODIES(AB'S) THAT ACCREDIT OVER 2000 LABORATORIES IN THE US AND INTERNATIONALLY. IN 2023,THE MAJOR FOCUS OF NELAP WAS REVISE THE EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS FOR A LABORATORY TECHNICAL MANAGER.
EDUCATIONAL DELIVERY SYSTEM IN 2023, TNI'S EFFORTS TO PROVIDE TRAINING COURSES TO THE ENVIRONMENTAL MONITORING COMMUNITY SURPASSED THE CONSENSUS STANDARDS DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM IN REVENUE. IN 2023, TNI PROVIDED TRAINING TO OVER 100 INDIVIDUALS THROUGH TRAINING AT CONFERENCE, ON-LINE WEBINARS, AND RECORDED WEBCASTS. THIS PROGRAM ALSO BEGAN EFFORTS TO ESTABLISH A CREDENTIALLING SYSTEM FOR LABORATORY PROFESSIONALS EXPECTED TO LAUNCH IN 2024.
