TO RAISE AWARENESS OF SUDDEN CARDIAC ARREST (SCA) IN YOUTH AND SAVE LIVES THROUGH COMMUNITY EDUCATION AND AWARENESS EVENTS, TO PROMOTE YOUTH HEART SCREENINGS, TO AWARD STUDENT SCHOLARSHIPS, AND TO DONATE AUTOMATED EXTERNAL DEFIBRILLATORS (AEDS) TO YOUTH-BASED ORGANIZATIONS.

AUTOMATED EXTERNAL DEFIBRILLATOR (AED) DONATION PROGRAM - DURING FY22, LIVING FOR ZACHARY DONATED 75 AEDS TO YOUTH-BASED ORGANIZATIONS ACROSS THE STATE OF TEXAS. THESE AED DONATIONS REMOVED THE FINANCIAL BURDEN FROM ORGANIZATIONS LOOKING TO EQUIP THEIR BUILDINGS WITH THIS LIFE-SAVING DEVICE AND CREATED MORE RESCUE-READY ENVIRONMENTS IN PLACES WHERE CHILDREN LEARN AND PLAY. AED RECIPIENTS WHICH WERE LOCATED IN THE DALLAS-FORT WORTH METROPLEX RECEIVED FREE CPR/AED CERTIFICATION TRAINING FOR 8 STAFF MEMBERS. IN TOTAL, LIVING FOR ZACHARY CERTIFIED 516 PEOPLE IN CPR/AED USE DURING FY22. ALSO, A NEW PARTNERSHIP WAS ESTABLISHED WITH DEFIBTECH AS LIVING FOR ZACHARY'S AED PROVIDER, WHICH LOWERED THE COST FOR AEDS AND THEREBY ENABLED LIVING FOR ZACHARY TO DONATE MORE AEDS INTO THE COMMUNITY.
YOUTH HEART SCREENINGS - FROM MAY 2021-APRIL 2022, LIVING FOR ZACHARY'S YOUTH HEART SCREENINGS WERE PERFORMED IN 9 CITIES ACROSS NORTH TEXAS, SCREENING A TOTAL OF 1,266 YOUTH. APPOINTMENT CAPACITY ALSO DOUBLED FOR FREE HEART SCREENING EVENTS. IN RESPONSE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC, LIVING FOR ZACHARY CONTINUED HEALTH AND SAFETY PROTOCOLS DURING SCREENING EVENTS WITH THE GOAL OF CREATING A COMFORTABLE ENVIRONMENT FOR FAMILIES, PATIENTS, STAFF, AND VOLUNTEERS. IN TOTAL, LIVING FOR ZACHARY HOSTED 27 YOUTH HEART SCREENING EVENTS IN FY22 WHICH WERE OFFERED AT NO COST TO FAMILIES.
EDUCATION & AWARENESS - LIVING FOR ZACHARY CONTINUED TO PROVIDE EDUCATION AND AWARENESS OFFERINGS IN AN ONLINE FORMAT. OVER 100,000 PEOPLE WERE REACHED WITH IMPORTANT SCA EDUCATION THROUGH SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS. FOLLOWING THE REOPENING OF SCHOOLS FROM COVID-19, LIVING FOR ZACHARY ALSO EXPANDED ITS "RED OUT" GAME OFFERINGS, WHICH ARE MEANT TO HELP RAISE AWARENESS OF SCA IN YOUTH. PLANO EAST HIGH SCHOOL'S INCLUDED ITS HOCKEY TEAM, AND A RED OUT GAME WAS HELD OUTSIDE OF PLANO FOR THE FIRST TIME, AT LIBERTY CHRISTIAN SCHOOL IN ARGYLE, TEXAS.
