FRIENDS FOREVER A CAT SANCTUARY (FFACS) STARTED RESCUING CATS IN 2008; BY THE END OF 2018 THE ORGANIZATION HAD RESCUED A TOTAL OF 2,897 CATS AND KITTENS. IN 2018 THERE WERE 263 CATS AND KITTENS RESCUED, MOSTLY FROM THE PUBLIC. SINCE ITS INCEPTION, MEDICAL CARE HAS BEEN PROVIDED TO THESE CATS; THEY ARE SPAYED OR NEUTERED, VACCINATED, TESTED FOR COMMUNICABLE DISEASES, MICROCHIPED FOR IDENTIFICATION AND SOCIALIZED IN PREPARATION FOR ADOPTION. THE NUMBER OF CATS AND KITTENS ADOPTED OUT IN 2018 WAS 275. THE CATS AND KITTENS ARE KEPT IN FOSTER HOMES UNTIL THEY ARE THREE MONTHS OLD. ONCE THE CATS AND KITTENS HAVE BEEN SPAYED OR NEUTERED AND ARE HEALTHY, THEY ARE BROUGHT TO THE FFACS CAT ADOPTION CENTER IN AUBURN. THE ADOPTION CENTER AND THRIFT SHOP (???THE CAT???S MEOW???) OPENED IN SEPTEMBER 2012 AND WAS EXPANDED IN 2013. IN 2018 THE AVERAGE PER DAY SALES IN THE THRIFT SHOP WAS $220, WHICH IS A 5.3% INCREASE OVER 2017. IN 2018 FFACS CONTINUED TO FEED THREE FERAL CAT COLONIES RANGING FROM TWO TO 8 OR 10 CATS. THERE WERE ONGOING TRAINING SESSIONS FOR NEW AND CURRENT VOLUNTEERS AT THE ADOPTION CENTER AND THE THRIFT SHOP. ALL THE PROGRAM WORK FOR FFACS IS DONE BY UNPAID VOLUNTEERS. WE MAINTAIN A NO-KILL POLICY AND A CAGE FREE ENVIRONMENT.
