TO IMPROVE THE LIVES OF YOUNG PEOPLE BY EMPOWERING THEM WITH EFFECTIVE DECISION SKILLS. TO ACCOMPLISH THIS, THE FOUNDATION PROVIDES TRAINING AND CURRICULUM FOR TEACHERS, ADMINISTRATORS, PARENTS AND STUDENTS.

ALL OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES: DEF CONDUCTED WORKSHOPS AND MEETINGS WITH ADMINISTRATORS AT SCHOOLS TO DEMONSTRATE THE TEACHING OFDECISION SKILLS. THESE INTERACTIONS DEVELOPED NEW IDEAS AND TECHNIQUES FOR TEACHING DECISION SKILLS, INCLUDING A NEW MENTOR PROGRAM. FOR A NINTH YEAR, AS PART OF THE PRE-COLLEGIATE PATHWAYS INSTITUTE FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS, DEF CONDUCTED 10 DECISION SKILLS AND LEADERSHIP WORKSHOPS FOR A ROUGH TOTAL OF 200 HIGH SCHOOLERS. TO GAIN ADVOCATES, VOLUNTEERS, AND DONORS, DEF HOSTED AN EVENT TO HIGHLIGHT WITH REAL EXPERIENCES THE IMPORTANCE AND IMPACT OF DECISION EDUCATION, PARTICULARLY DEF. THE ATTENDING COMMUNITY INCLUDED DECISION PROFESSIONALS, FORMER DEF STUDENTS, TEACHERS, SCHOOL ADMINISTRATORS, AND OTHERS. IN TOTAL, 70+ PEOPLE ATTENDED AND MORE THAN 18 ACTIVELY PARTICIPATED BY DELIVERING PRESENTATIONS ABOUT THEIR DECISION STORIES AND LEARNINGS. AMONG OTHER POSITIVE OUTCOMES, THE DECISION EDUCATION VOLUNTEER GROUP WAS FORMED BECAUSE OF THE EVENT.DEF ALSO DEVELOPED AND RELEASED A FREE ONLINE COURSE INTRODUCING THE FUNDAMENTALS OF DECISION SKILLS AND A NEW WEBSITE DIRECTED TOWARDS STUDENTS.
STRONGSTART PROGRAM: DECISION EDUCATION FOUNDATION "DEF" CONTINUED TO IMPLEMENT OUR "TRAIN THE TEACHER" MODEL FOR DELIVERING A 5 DAY ACADEMIC CAMP ORGANIZED AROUND DECISION SKILLS. SCHOOL PARTICIPATION STARTED TO COME BACK AFTER THE PANDEMIC DISTRACTION AND EVEN GAINED TWO NEW SCHOOLS. MORE THAN 400 STUDENTS AND 15 TEACHERS PARTICIPATED.
STEPS TO SUCCESS PROGRAM: DEF WORKED WITH PARTNER, JUNCTION CITY HIGH SCHOOL (JCHS), TO CONTINUE IMPROVING AND IMPLEMENTING THE DEF-BASED 9TH GRADE SUCCESS CLASS FOR ALL INCOMING 9TH GRADERS. THE STEPS TO SUCCESS COURSE SUCCESSFULLY REACHED 150 STUDENTS AND 6 NEW TEACHERS WERE TRAINED. DEF RECEIVED POSITIVE FEEDBACK FROM STUDENTS, TEACHERS, AND ADMINISTRATORS. THE POSITIVE RESPONSE RESULTED IN THE SCHOOLS DECISION TO REPEAT THE COURSES IN THE NEXT YEAR AND TO WORK WITH DEF TO IMPROVE THE COURSES BASED ON EVALUATION RESULTS.
