PROGRAM ACTIVITIES RELATED TO IMPROVING MENTAL AND EMOTIONAL WELL-BEING OF YOUNG PEOPLEHOPELAB CONTINUED ITS PROGRAMMATIC EFFORTS TO SUPPORT THE MENTAL HEALTH AND WELL-BEING OF LGBTQ+ AND BIPOC YOUNG PEOPLE. PIVOTING AWAY FROM PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT, HOPELAB FOCUSED EFFORTS ON RELATIONSHIP-BUILDING, CONVENING RESEARCHERS, PHILANTHROPISTS, INVESTORS, AND YOUNG PEOPLE AT AN INTERGENERATIONAL RETREAT FOCUSED ON IMPROVING YOUTH MENTAL HEALTH OUTCOMES. IN AUGUST, THE RESPONSIBLE TECHNOLOGY YOUTH POWER FUND GRANTED $1.8 MILLION IN POOLED FUNDING TO 26 YOUTH-LED INITIATIVES DEDICATED TO BUILDING A MORE INCLUSIVE, EQUITABLE, AND ACCOUNTABLE TECHNOLOGY ECOSYSTEM. THIS CAPABILITY ALLOWED FOR THE FLEXIBILITY TO SUPPORT BOTH FOR-PROFIT AND NONPROFIT TEAMS DEDICATED TO SCALING SOCIAL IMPACT. HOPELAB'S INVESTMENT APPROACH COMBINES EARLY-STAGE CAPITAL WITH EXPERTISE IN RESEARCH, DESIGN, YOUTH CO-CREATION, AND PAYMENT MODELS TO SUPPORT THE DEVELOPMENT AND ADOPTION OF BETTER, MORE DIVERSE, AND ACCESSIBLE MENTAL HEALTH AND WELL-BEING SOLUTIONS FOR YOUNG PEOPLE. IN 2023 HOPELAB MADE DIRECT EQUITY OR CONVERTIBLE EQUITY INVESTMENTS IN THE FOLLOWING COMPANIES: DYNAMICARE HEALTH, INC., TRACE APP INC., ATTENTION TECHNOLOGIES, INC., CARAWAY INC., VYTYL HEALTH MANAGEMENT, INC., YOURPATH, FLOURISH, PERSONAL BEST INC., NEUROMOTION INC., YOUME HEALTHCARE INC., OUI THERAPEUTICS, VIOLET SERVICES, INC.
ADVISORY SERVICES TO FOSTER POSITIVE CHANGE IN THE CREATION OF MENTAL HEALTH PRODUCTS AND SERVICESHOPELAB WORKS IN AN ADVISORY CAPACITY WITH ORGANIZATIONS AND PARTNERS THAT CREATE MENTAL HEALTH PRODUCTS, SERVICES, AND RESEARCH. EACH PROJECT IS CRAFTED TO ELEVATE THE PARTNERS' INITIATIVES THROUGH THE CAPABILITIES OF THE INTERDISCIPLINARY TEAM WITH EXPERTISE ACROSS THE FIELDS OF DESIGN, RESEARCH, AND YOUTH CO-CREATION. GRANTMAKING TO SUPPORT TRANSLATIONAL RESEARCH DISCOVERY SCIENCE GRANTSHOPELAB SUPPORTS PROGRAMMATIC EFFORTS THAT NURTURE EMERGENT IDEAS AND COLLABORATIONS TO BRIDGE THE GAP BETWEEN WELL-BEING, SCIENCE, AND MEANINGFUL ACTION. THROUGH A PORTFOLIO OF SMALL SEED GRANTS THAT INCUBATE COLLABORATIONS BETWEEN RESEARCHERS AND YOUTH-SERVING ORGANIZATIONS, HOPELAB SUPPORTS CUTTING-EDGE DEVELOPMENTAL ASSET RESEARCH FOCUSED ON YOUTH MENTAL WELL-BEING.
